I agree, the album is very aggressive and goes hard in some parts but it's meant to be this way. I'm very satisfied with the final product.

Well listened to them and have to say they sound bad. Even though I always complain about taylor 1989 was a listenable album and the songs didn't annoy me that much. I even loved Wildest dreams. And New romantics was nice too, Shake it off after some time too. But this time I did not find a song I could enjoy and it doesn't sound like the album is easy to listen to like the last one was. Some songs sound a bit the same and the production is strange. Somehow it does not fit to her, but maybe that's just because the music before was very different from the album now

The albums great - surprisingly so. Every track is pretty good.

Early critics are very positive too

Getaway Car is the obvious fan favourite because it is on par with all the pop gems on 1989. Would fit very well in between Wildest Dreams and Out Of The Woods. To sum it up: it sounds like everything on 1989.

King Of My Heart has an awful chorus line. It is so very cheesy overall. Not even the heavy beat can cover up the premature lyrics. This track is definitely not among my favourites. Best Part: the bridge before the chorus. I see some potential there.

Top 5:
1. So It Goes
2. Dress
3. Don’t Blame Me
4. Dancing With Our Hands Tied
5. Call It What You Want

I love half of the songs and strongly dislike the other half - I’m hoping the more soft pop songs see releases as they could do quite well.

Songs I won’t come back to:
1. End Game
2. I Did Something Bad
3. Look What You Made Me Do
4. Gorgeous
5. This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things

So It Goes... has an awesome atmosphere/groove, Wouldn't mind seeing it as the next single.

The album is a lot better than I was expecting. Still probably her worst, but then she’d really set the bar high with 1989 and Red.

Delicate is so good, my favourite <3

Dress is neither that impressive nor especially attention-seeking BUT its got a great mystical atmosphere and that subtle sexiness to it. Listening to this after the disappointing and disastrous King Of My Heart was a great relief! It's sexy but grown-up, has a foggy feeling to it and is easy to get into.

I keep that one. My favourite after New Year's Day thus far.

I went through half of the album quite intensely. I have listened to all the songs at least 5 times. My ranking from what I've heard so far (excluding the 4 leaked promo tracks):

#1 - NEW YEAR'S DAY
... got me hooked instantly. Maybe because I knew it was the only quiet moment on the record or because it is so simple and beautifully arranged.

#2 - DRESS
... caught my Attention due to its breathy, slightly foggy soundscape. It's a fairly relaxed song as well and has a convincing chorus line moreover. You can tell by the production and the lyrical content that this was not a rushed thing. Very close to pop perfection.

#3 - GETAWAY CAR
... simply can't be ignored if you were a die-hard 1989 fan. And I'm not but if you liked just one of the lead singles from her previous record, this is the tune to get into most likely. It is ear-friendly, fast-paced, rich in melodic content. Personally, the obvious safe pop song choice is not the Taylor I am most impressed with. But as I said: likeable.

#4 - KING OF MY HEART
... is a disaster. But maybe only because I am not 14 years old anymore.

I've only breezed through the previews so far, so I'm trying to avoid reading most reviews until after a full listen or two. From what I've heard so far, I really like the sound of it. It sounds very cohesive - which is bound to have songs that sound similar on first (brief) listen. Some of what I consider to be the best albums are sonically similar from song to song, with lyrics, melodies, and other elements that individualize the tracks more and more with each listen. Ray of Light comes to mind in that regard.

Although I don't really buy CDs anymore, I get a vibe that this is best experienced with headphones on, lying on the floor with the booklet it hand.

It is the definitive way to listen to it imo, the target magazines were everything and more, a cohesive body of work/concept  I stan Ms. Swift for this risky experimental dark pop album 8-)
