The album is out on 2nd November - this could do relatively well prior to Christmas! The single is a power ballad. I imagine it to be a bit of a Sam Bailey affair but Claire is much more marketable.

Do we reckon it’s a cover of the Les Mis song or a confirmed original?

Best news of the week!
Last time due to unexpectedly leaving Steps she got some backlash but this time the general public seems to ok with it after the amazing steps tribute :) i wish her loads of luck but i still LOVE to hear one more Steps album down the road as they did a fantastic job last time around, they veru much turned the page and came back with even stronger material than before.
Btw, does Steps touring performances are all finished at this point?

The full tracklist is now available on iTunes albeit with no previews as of now.
I’m very excited :)

It could be a Steps album track really, it’s nice but nothing more.

Yep, their Summer Of Steps tour is complete and I’m imagining they’ll begin work on the next album after new year.

I’d definitely love to have another album indeed, here’s hoping Claire also goes back with the steps’ project once her solo album is done being promoted. Surely steps are only complete with all 5 included.

Its a nice one, anyhow the lyrics are too personal for everyone to be engaged with it, i would have released something a bit more general in terms of lyrics. Anyhow its still a lovely album opener track but not sure if its gonna spark any attention as a debut single release... for example H&Claire’s first solo singles were very much easy to gather general public’s attention so I would have expected something in line with stuff like that.

Bit of a bland affair of a song.

I disagree with.. everyone

Think it sounds nothing like Steps, is perfect for Claire solo and is also pretty awesome!

Got as high as 23 on UK iTunes

Oh I forgot to check iTunes! I definitely think it could be a Steps mid-tempo. It’s grown on me after a few more listens.

They’ve removed her solo version of DSOB though... I loved that version!

Steps did fantastically and relatively well during their last album, I’m totally sure they even didn’t saw/anticipate such big success coming for them on their last era, thus I believe people in uk should be very much accustomed to her presence as a vocalist at this point.

I’m hearing some eighties vibes in it too.

Hmmm, not a fan, but if you are then fill your boots.

It does, to me at least, sound like a "good" Steps mid-tempo song from the Deeper Shade of Blue era. I was never a fan of their mid-tempo and ballads. I always felt they were better at Hi-NRG off yer tits speed camp.

Still, good luck to her with this project. I hope it yields something positive for her solo wise and just personally.

I suppose most people from groups need to get the solo album ‘out of their system’ before most of them realise they were liked as part of a group and not necessarily on their own.

Like someone else said, if it makes her happy to have achieved something by doing it then ok. Otherwise, it’s quite pointless really. The song is fine but bland.

I adore on my own. Such a grower

It is a real grower actually, although the double use of "long, long troublesome road" irks me slightly.

‘On My Own’ is really catchy, on the first listen I was like meh, now it’s actually growing on me, I like it!
