Excited for this too even though we have no clue if it's a real second single or just a promo single that might come with the album pre-order. We'll find out soon I guess. Then, we don't know what kind of song we should expect, ballad/power ballad, midtempo, or an upbeat song? In her interview with Vogue Germany, she mentioned a few jazz/Motown inspired tracks, and another one with strong guitars and drum (dumb blonde ?). Anyway new music :D

Well before HAW everyone said she was her over yet the song is still charting in Canada/Switzerland/Austria and helped introduce her as a more mature artist. We all know how US radio works, so better focus on HAC. In this respect, BMG is doing a great work.
But I get your point and I'm not expecting a hit regardless the quality of the song itself. I just hope she delivers.

She is such a beautiful woman but her visuals for this era suck big time so far!

To the contrary, I think they're just stunning. Her latest video has her covered from head to toe, and in just 1 dress throughout. Yet the setting, and the mood it conjures more than makes up for it. I'd rather have music videos like these, and not sex sex sex sex all the damn time.

The visual for HAW would be stunning if it didn’t look so cheap and low-budget.

'Head Above Water' is a nice track, but somehow I didn't click with it completely.
Hopefully this one will.

I hope she doesn’t refer to her career.

It sounds unexpectedly 60s influenced, reminds me of Meghan Trainor's first era. Kinda generic but I like her voice!

Sounds VERY familiar. Like something Maren Morris or so would do. Needs to grow on me...

The chorus isn’t that great imo but it kicks off very interesting.

There’s a slight Christmas spirit to it.

I love it. :D <3 The rhythm is similar to a number of songs like Guilty by Paloma Faith and Happy xmas (war is over) by John Lennon. Maybe this is what other people are hearing.

I'm honestly surprised as i really wasn't expecting Avril to release a song quite like this but i'm here for it.

"'Tell Me It’s Over’ is an anthem about being strong, finally putting your foot down and closing the door on a relationship that you know is wrong after time and time again of falling for their games,” said Lavigne in a statement.

“If someone doesn’t treat you the way you deserve to be treated, don’t put up with it. It’s understandably so hard because in the past every time you saw them, they sucked you in and you fell right back into their web, but not anymore starting now!" she continued. "The vocals and the lyrics are very vulnerable which is reflective of the feelings I had in relationships like these. I wanted to write something classic and have been inspired by some of the timeless queens I listen to everyday at home, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and Etta James. They represent women who stand up for women and aren’t going to put up with a man’s bullshit anymore!”

Well done Avril! The album is shaping to be a very interesting piece of work. :D

I am not trying to seduce you... Would you like me to seduce you? Is that what you're trying to tell me?

The music video would have been suitable for an up-and-coming hipster indie pop singer.

It’s very listenable, I must say! I admit I was quite taken aback during the premiere, it’s not really Avril musically, but the singing is fantastic! I’m glad she’s spreading her wings a bit. The last time she tried something different we got Hello Kitty.
