She performed and put on a great show. She isn't bothered by the attendance, so I don't see why anyone else should be. It's only a problem if she starts cancelling shows, but the production of this tour doesn't seem excessive, so I'm sure it won't be a huge problem to play arenas which are half full.

You can't bank on name alone anymore.

She could be smart though - do what Mariah did in Scotland.

Mariah reduced the setup of an arena that can usually hold up to 11,000 people by blocking off all of the top sections (the SSE Hydro); she sold 3,506 tickets out of 3,835 put on sale. 91% looks much better than 47%. Her team were smart enough from the off rather than overstating her appeal.

I'll be updating the first post with the box score data.

Yes, I agree. But Janet sold all of this in 2015 and 2016 in just one week. They didn't count on her bad reputation earned after she postponed these dates more than once! When she announced this tour all comments were negative and everyone was sure that she will cancel again.

Billboard reported it. Plus there were only a few available seats on Ticketmaster, unlike now. Box Score for the first leg is also supporting this. And they kept on adding new legs, and even new shows in cities she already did in the first leg. Chicago for instance.

Toronto 13,239 / 13,239
Orlando 8,906 / 9,067
Inglewood 12,676 / 12,676
Santa Barbara 8,839 / 8,839
Chicago 10,451 / 10,451
Grand Rapids 8,621 / 9,102

and so on...

It was going very well.

It's just her bad reputation. That's why she has to finish this tour or she can forget about touring ever again.

And a correction about all tickets going in one week...

According to sales reports from Live Nation, "88 percent of the tickets on the trek's first leg (Aug. 31 to Nov. 15) were purchased two weeks after going on sale; nearly 80 percent of the tickets for the second leg (Jan. 12 to March 9) were gone in two days.".

Are they blocking off the whole top half?

I don't know, the seating map was unavailable for this date. But they better do. This arena is huge.

And, yes. She has to prove that she's responsible, trustworthy and professional. I know many hard core fans that are still waiting to see what's going before they decide to buy a ticket. Her reputation is that bad. And this didn't help either: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... amily.html

San Antonio
My unreliable estimation is 8,000-9,000 tickets sold. The full capacity for a concert is 19,000 seats, but she's not using the full capacity.

Almost all tickets for this show were $135 or more. There are cheaper tickets in the upper level.

Why is she doing these cities anyway? Who's going there? It's not 1994.
Lafayette? Like, really?

If she can sell 8,000 to 9,000 tickets in San Antonio then I would consider that a success. And yes, she should definitely block off the upper level (although the sides were available for purchase and I guess those will be moved down ?)

Of course we have to wait for the official boxscores from billboard but I'm happy with this result. I thought it would be similar to Austin to be honest

Yeah. We don't have to worry about Dallas, there aren't many seats available. She's doing the whole arena and it's a huge arena. But she'll need a miracle for Tulsa. That one is the worst.

Well it's not quite the "3 x more tickets sold" than Austin estimate he first made but a better number regardless.

I think this tour has many troubles easy to solve:

1. Nobody knows she's on tour
2. She didn't realease new material or a GH compilation
3. For the last 17 years she has been cancelled lots of concerts and even tours and that makes some fans to be skeptical about that will happen this time
4. She hasn't promoted at all and her team is not doing their best with campaings or trying to make alliances with reatils, shops, radio stations, social media, etc.
5. Randy Jackson **** it up.
6. She is going to some weird places and in other times, performing in cities that are very near from each other and that only would be possible for a commercial and current act.

I hope she doesn't cancel this time any date and do her best to do great shows at least to have reviews in media and that pushes people to go to a concert.

Yes, I agree with everything ccadavi1. No. 3 is obviously the main problem, given how well she was selling all these dates in 2015. If she doesn't cancel Tulsa in two days, she won't cancel anything. Ther are many cities that are doing very well. I'm not worried and I'm optimistic about the final outcome.

It's a city full of Mexicans. I would be surprised if it wasn't. For Janet in that city, 9,000 is surprisingly well. Especially because she's having several concerts in cities near San Antonio.

And, btw, visiting for the first time is an advantage.

Nobody's denying that since 2004 Madonna is bigger touring force than Janet. Much bigger, actually. Janet wasn't a touring force at all in the past 15 years or so. So you have nothing to prove. At this point, Janet is just making first steps of reestablishing herself as a touring force.

No, I said that for Dallas. That's today.
