The British rapper's 'Gang Signs & Prayer' album was nominated for last night's Mercury Prize

JP Cooper has released ‘Momma’s Prayers’, a Stormzy-featuring new single.

The platinum-selling Manchester singer-songwriter’s latest release is a softly-sung ballad, dedicated to the pair’s respective mothers and complimented by Stormzy’s deep singing voice and rapid-fire rapping.

It’s taken from JP Cooper’s upcoming debut album ‘Raised Under Grey Skies’, released October 6 on Island Records.

For some reason, this struck a MASSIVE chord with me - it's awesome, moving in it's own way.

Stormzy really takes it to the next level.

This man is TALENT.

Turned this into thhe album topic.

Closer, a song which I think he's been performing for months now live, has finally been added to Spotify's New Music Playlist which is how I came across it.

Given I've LOVED 2 tracks in as many weeks, I'm giving the album a go!

I've given the album a listen and I am seriously impressed by his talents - my current favourite is Passport Home.

Also, in terms of UK Midweeks, the album is #7! :D

The album is good as a whole but only a few songs actually grip me and get me going.

Tidal Wave is excellent. I can see myself giving that some repeat action.

Obsessed with this album at the moment.

Change is my current fave, so funky.

He should release Change as the next single, it's a welcome change in pace! Then Closer would be a perfect final single.

Adore this.

It’s become an album I just listen to from start to finish, whenever I crave music - there’s so much to love.

Have to give this a bump, it was my most played album of 2017 - adore it from start to finish.

Passport Home has probably remained my joint favourite song along with We Were Raised Under Grey Skies.

I am so looking forward to what he comes out with next,

PS the whole album can be heard here:

Last night on The Voice - someone sang We Were Raised Under Grey Skies, one of my favourites from the album:

So cool to hear JP on mainstream TV!
