Apparently this is the first duet by Black artists to reach #1 on Pop radio since "One Sweet Day" in 1995. (songs like "Dilemma", "Crazy in Love" & "The Way I Are" did reach #1 but I think they're all seen as Rap/Sung collabo rather than a 'duet').

FYI, for comparison:
"No Air" reached #2
"My Boo" #2
"Hate That I Love You" #3
"The Boy is Mine" #3
"Take Care" #8

Don't you guys think it's crazy that this song found success on Pop radio yet it's nowhere to be found on the R&B & UAC ones?

I am surprised at that fact but it's a great song and a highlight of 2018, a true slow burner. Maybe because it's from the Love, Simon soundtrack, which is a "white" film, who knows. I don't understand why we aren't getting as many male/female duets being released as they are usually the best songs due to the vocal chemistry.

Does Khalid normally do well on those radio formats? Both his and Normani's growth (via Fifth Harmony) has been very pop based, so I'm not surprised that's where the support for this song came for, especially considering how pop it sounds and the movie attachment.

"Love Lies" sounds very R&B to me but you're right, his only songs that got support from Urban radio was "Location" where it peaked at #2 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and the Logic song at #49. Never think from that perspective before.
