Please PM when we have a title and I'm happy to unlock.

For now, please discuss everything Mya related in her topic in the general artist forum.

It's due April 20th. This is just part one. She describes the album as a story. It consist of slow jams/midtempos. I hope not too many though.

Thank you for opening it up again though. :D

I am generally in for slow jams but what Mya has delivered lately is very underwhelming. She should consider getting some inspiration from SZA and Toni Braxton regarding her musical development.

Less trappy please.

Give me a release date. She can’t possibly release all the tracks before she drops the record.

I secretly hope that YOU GOT ME won‘t make the cut. This one just sounds like a pure filler to me.

DAMAGE on the other hand is very promising!

April 20th is the release date. You Got Me plus Ready Part I & II will be featured on the album. Damage is the last single that will be release before the album drops.

Finally! :D Since we passed the era of albums and facing the new era of music projects I expect something like an 8-track release.

Having heard Ready For Whatever, Ready Pt. II, You Got Me and Damage there will be about 4 new tracks left.

Regarding the quality of previously released songs I am a bit worried. Damage is definitely the standout track by miles. If there is something equally driven on TKO, it would be my dream scenario.

2018 will be my personal battle between Tinashe and Mya. I'm curious who delivers.

Yeah, Mya has been referring to this as her 13th studio project (studio albums + EPs + mixtape), 9th studio album. We're definitely getting more than 8 songs. She said that this album is classic Mya and what fans been wanting from her. It's a mix of contemporary R&B, carribean, traditional R&B and soul. Smoove Jones was considered an EP and that had more than 8 songs. It had the standard 12. I doubt this album TKO that she's been promoting heavily will only receive 8 songs.

Confirmed Tracks
Ready for Whatever
Ready, Part II
You Got Me
Damage
Knock You Out
Ready for Whatever, Part III (Rumored to feature Kevin McCall)
New Track featuring Tink

I would not mind three parts of Damage but I can't get excited for a Ready... trilogy.

She said Part III is her favorite song on the album and it's essential of 90's R&B. It just makes you feel good. She also said someway, somehow she wants to do a video for Part III.

Personally, I really like "dramatic" Mya. Songs like Ridin' and Best Of Me just got that special something being portrayed by her slightly agitated voice. She's got that ooomph when she puts a little pressure on her sweet-sounding vocals.

Regarding slow jams, she was at her best at Man In My Life from the FOF era, repeatedly threw out a great slow jam every now and then.

She managed to put out classics on a regular basis ever since. Even though her latest records are not that consistent anymore, she has created a personal BOP regularly. To sum it up, my overall highlights would be:

MYA era
1. It's All About Me
2. Don't Be Afraid

3. Keep On Lovin' Me
4. Movin' On

FEAR OF FLYING era
1. Best Of Me
2. Pussycats
3. Free
4. Case Of The Ex (Whatcha Gonna Do)
5. Man In My Life

6. How You Gonna Tell Me
7. Lie Detector
8. That's Why I Wanna Fight

... basically the whole record minus 3 or 4 tracks

MOODRING era
1. You
2. Moodring
3. No Sleep Tonight

4. After The Rain
5. Fallen
6. Things Come & Go
7. My Love Is Like ... Wo!

LIBERATION era
1. Ridin'
2. Still A Woman
3. Switch It Up
4. Lock U Down
5. All In The Name Of Love

SUGAR AND SPICE era
1. Must Be The Music
2. Shy Guy

K.I.S.S. era
1. Fugitive Of Love
2. Love Is The Answer

3. Mess Up My Hair
4. Evolve

SMOOVE JONES era
1. Coolin'
2. Hold On
3. Elevator

Highlights from her independent EP releases / mixtapes
1. Do It
2. Space
3. M-O-N-E-Y

4. Unbreakable
5. Full Service
6. Pony Tail
7. About My B.I.

TKO era
1. Damage
Baby, hell no, that's not the way it goes. It's all about me tonight.

K.I.S.S. and Smoove Jones are solid consistent projects. The latter being the more consistent of the two. I'd love if she recorded more songs in the vein of Fear of Flying and Moodring and that this new album would be in the vein of those two albums but we'll see in the future. I'll never rule anything out because she's always been a melting pot artist. Hopefully, the sequel to this album will be more uptempo.
