I know!! It's awful. She's going on your which should get more exposure. I just wish she'd have done some high level interviews. Maybe a few big performances.

In fact, whenever I want to distract myself from something rather annoying I put this record on.

Even more serious tunes like SO AFRAID and DON‘T JUDGE ME seem fairly uplifting.

Literally imagine how big and acclaimed this would be if Beyoncé released it

I don't think it would at all unfortunately as it heavily pushes the LGBT perspective which Beyonce doesn't have.

I think the only comparison to 'someone who would blow up' with an album like this probably would have been Lady Gaga. If she'd have come out with this rather than that last album. It would perhaps have been the biggest thing she's done since her initial success.

Songs like Screwed sound fancy but are full of immature references. A bit odd regarding the fact she was born 1985 and is not 16 years old.

Apart from that, I am pretty content how the album turned out. It‘s very light-hearted and vibrant.

It's also my favourite album of Janelle's by far, an album about being a queer woman of colour is the most refreshing thing I've heard in years.

However I agree with the people who say there's still a disconnect here, I think the Guardian review's attempt to explain that was spot on. Their summary was: "She can sing, she can rap, she can act, she can pay homage to Prince – perfectly. So why does Monáe still seem elusive on her most personal album?"

I’ve tried time and again and I can never get into Janelle with the exception of one or two songs!

I don’t blame you for that. Her best record for me personally would be a compilation of The Archandroid and Electric Lady.

Nevertheless, I enjoy particularly 3 songs on Dirty Computer a lot: Americans, Django Jane and I Like That.

I know albums are passe, but I would love to buy a deluxe edition of this album that would include a dvd for the emotion picture.

Can’t wait to see her on tour!!

Can you name me some other songs that she might perform FOR SURE during the tour? So I can have a listen, just started knowing her since Yoga came out.

And yes, this is also my favorite album this year so far followed by Lily Allen & Dita Van Teese.

I feel like with her inability to really crack the masses despite the hype and acclaim, she reminds me of an urban St. Vincent, who too is adored by critics and hipsters and has the right famous fans but yet you can't get the mainstream on board, and of course both are LGBT women.

Thanks! Listened to these. I did quite enjoy Electric Lady, Cold War too but the other two really not that much
I hope she focuses mainly on her new album (perhaps performing each song of it) and adds like 5-6 other songs :D

Also I wouldn't mind her performing a cover of We are young
