Heard the live version, it sounds kinda mellow R&B-ish. It's cute but I don't see it doing anything on the charts. I feel like she needs something with big Pop choruses like "Battlefield" or "Bleeding Love" or "Halo". Where's Ryan Tedder when you need him?

The hand pose & her facial expression seem off but GREAT ARTWORK overall. Very stunning! :o

Excited to listen, I liked Expectations.

Released same day as Normani & Sam Smith’s collab too so will be interesting to see how they both perform.

Looks like it was inspired by American Beauty. I can see this being overshadowed badly by the Sam Smith/Normani song and that isn't even her fault. I'm not sure what lane she should go down genre wise but I still listen to her collaboration with Steve Aoki, All Night. That was a bop.

beautiful cover indeed.
I am curious for this. Her first song was amazing to me, but wasn't that commercial, so I wonder if she continues that route or if she goes a little more instant for this one

Same. That could’ve been an album cover.

Based on the live version, it sounds less commercial than "Expectations" at least for me, but we'll see. I mean, if Halsey's "Without Me" could take off, I think this one has the potential as well - with the right promo & payola of course.

LISTEN (Spotify)

I love it! It's very R&B but I don't think she has Urban appeal to pull this off, should've had someone like Khalid & Ty Dolla for another verse plus right now the middle of the song sounds a bit empty to me.

Oh, this is much more R&B than I expected. I like it, but I would love to get a pop banger from her. Something like "God Is A Woman" would have been more epic.

This is great. That said, I don't think it is the right direction for her if she wants to have mainstrram success. I doubt Urban Radio will support her and this is too urban for pop  I don't care give me these quality bops but I don't know if that is what she/the label wants

Yawn. This is more of an album filler not single material. She's releasing the wrong kind of material completely as she needs something that will bring out that distinctive husky voice not make it blend into the background.

I always thought of her as Zayn of 1D. Most talented (imo) and lowkey one with an idgaf vibe.
Lately, she got way more urban as well. Pretty sure Ty’s contribution helped the song too. Still on repeat, loving it.

@BeeBoy What I like about Lauren is that she is very versatile, very eccentric. One second she would pop it drop it low with Normani and Dinah, next second she would be singing Avril Lavigne.

But I agree with you, the thing is, as a new artist you really need a strong brand and I'm very surprised that they decided to release 2 midtempos back to back cause this is definitely not the sound I was expecting from her - I thought she was gonna be more like "woke" tumblr girl ala Halsey or Lana.

But at the end of the day, I love this song though so I can't complain too much, let's just hope it works for her!
