UKMix Ultimate Urban Top 100 (2001-2011)

I thought given that this is the 10th year anniversary of the forums, it'd be cool to see what UKMix's favourite urban songs of the same period of time is!

The last 10 years has generally been a great time for the urban genre! The early half brought us some classic songs of the genre and the latter half has geniusly mixed the genre with other genres!

So the criteria:

- It has to have been released between 2001 and 2011.
- It has to have received a full single treatment.
- It has to be urban. (R&B, Hip-hop, soul, gospel, reggae etc.)
- It doesn't have to be a huge hit, remember some of the best R&B tracks may have been flops!

PM me your top 50 Urban tracks of the last decade. You have until November 19th so you have ample time to make sure you don't forget any of your favourite tracks. Gives you plenty of time to discover some gems!

I hope that plenty of people will participate from all sections of the forums so we can find the definitive Urban track of UKMix 10 years! 8-)

Hopefully this one will be finished unlike our last attempt!
STICKY!

Can I ask what is the release date rule though? Does it have to be released as an actual single in the UK after January 2001 to be eligible?

Yeah, we'll go with that! Anything released in the UK from January 2001 onwards! :)

Also I went through all the yearly iTunes essentials on UK and US iTunes and pulled out the urban tracks from them but I realised that the list would be too long if I had posted them all here!

Forgive my stupidity but are we ranking our 50 songs or just listing them? If you know what I mean?

Edit: another stupid question - do the songs have to be UK singles or can they be US only singles?

Rank them please :)

And if it hasn't been released in the UK but was released in the US after 2001 (one that stands out for me is Tamia's 'Me') then it is eligible!
I realise that a lot of great R&B in particular hasn't been released in the UK!

OK this will be hard.

Can some songs from the Pure Pop section be categorized as "Urban"? i.e. "Ain't No Other Man", "Can't Hold Us Down", "Dirrty", "Promiscuous", any songs from Jesse McCartney's Departure etc.

I'll let you all use your own judgement, but I'd say all the songs you listed count! I'd be silly to not include something like 'Dirrty' which makes all the R&B compilations and stuff!
