It's true in the sense this list is not "official" (SNEP). But, this list give an idea of the sales of the Top 10 in 2007.
And, the certifications "official" are based on shipments and not on the sales... = not serious !

Not serious ?

Which matter for majors is shipment not sales. If you want to give an idea of sales, so give directly sales, what's the goal of inventing fake certifications ?

Because I believed the system changed when I saw the show "Les Disques D'Or" on TF1 yesterday with certifications to give at Christophe Maé and Johnny Hallyday for example and no precense of these certifications on the website of the SNEP.
But you are right. Mea culpa
Do you have a official list of certifications for 2007 ?

But it's true I have never understood why the certifications are based on shipments and not on sales : it's sure this thing advantage the majors but, at the actual time with the "change effect" around the world (Sarkozy in France, Obama at the USA  ), perhaps it's time for institutions like SNEP or RIAA of change theirs ways for better represent the reality : Where is the problem ? 1 album sold at 750.000 copies should automatically to be certified for Diamond, for example.

The problem is that a certification should be certified. Each copy sold should be proved. Sales from IFOP or Soundscan are NOT actually true sales but yes a kind of (very accurate) poll.
The ONLY way to be sure of each sale is by certifying shipment. Also, the majors certify their albums, and sales for majors are shipment, because they sold those copies to retailers.

French certifications are released in early February for the previous year.

Do you know how Radiohead are doing on their first usual-retail week ?

Sorry. I have not yet the result for Radiohead.
And for Yannick Noah, the single "Aux Arbres Citoyens" was the #1 single for the week of 17 february, 24 february and 3 march 2007.
"Charango" was the number #1 album for the week of 6 january 2007.

ok for this, but if you compare the total sales of the top 200, you may find a constant decrease. Anyway, first weeks of the year are very particular (because of the large decrease in sales post-Xmas).
