Clare Maguire | The Last Dance

Clare Maguire is much better than Jessie J. Even though Jessie is doing great in her own sense, has an edge, but she seems confused in which direction to go. She seems manufactured, yet struggling to bring out individuality.

Whereas Clare is confident, strong and unique.

"Do It Like A Dude" is a song about women being able to do things as good as men but also pointing out how disgusting some of a man's "ambitions" are by flipping it around into a songs lyrics. Lyrics like "my b-i-t-c-h is on my d*** like this" are exactly the type of things some guys do say.
Jessie is also a really strong artist. One that has been knocked back so many times by music labels and her heart problems, yet has overcame them and has proven herself to the world.

But regardless, both Jessie and Clare are SO talented. The UK should be proud that two so different acts with such talent are getting so much hype in 2010! 8-)

I'm not denying her vocal talent but please Do it like a dude lyrics are a tragedy. I really don't see she becoming huge like GaGa , Rihanna, Britney so far. She's not showing nothing new.

Carly, I think its your artistic eye that sees so much meaning in that song. Trust me, Jessie J must've written it as a fun, naughty song, without putting that much thought into it.

But yes, I agree with you. Two great artists to look forward to this year. Cheers for 2011.

Clare performs an acoustic version of Last Dance with a rather cute guitarist and a beatboxer.

It's on YouTube too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3hz0NilSl0
She also did an awesome cover of Aloe Blacc's "I Need A Dollar": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEYdEGb7yas

Oh lawd.. her voice is even better live! 8-) The guitarist is cute indeed!
I'm so obsessed with her right now!

That performance was incredible! :o

The beatboxer was insane and her voice was on the money! She sounds a bit like Mary from the X-factor sometimes but not as shouty.

This song reminds me of something Texas would release as she sounds a lot like Sharleen on it. Because of that, I absolutely love it - very strong catchy chorus!

That's so weird, I was thinking there were twinges of Sharleen vocally on her GREAT track You're Electric! :o

She has a marvellous voice with different shades! 8-)

The Cher thing I can sorta of understand but Cher lacks the technicality, nuance and rawness that Clare has, it's just the deep tone which is slighty reminiscent of Cher! :) Also Clare's music is already far better than Chers!!

I actually think more Sharleen Spiteri + Kate Bush, from listening to You're Electric.

She'll be supporting Hurts on their UK leg of the tour, so i'll be seeing her and Hurts in about 3 weeks! :D

I agree I was just agreeing with the Sharleen vocal comparison, I've heard these comparisons so far:

Sharleen Spiteri
Annie Lennox
Cher
Kate Bush
Alison Moyet
Goldfrapp (listen to her gorgeous track 'Lucky')
..... :o

She's great that's all I know! :D
