THANKS!

But, The Robertsons total is wrong. SoundScan is not adding in the Christian retailers. If you add up it's weekly totals, it's 804,000,

I know you're right, but "officially" the sales are 750,000.

Same thing happened in 2007 when Josh Groban's "Noel" was the year's biggest seller with sales with 3,699,000, when weekly returns totalled 3,736,000…

…and again in 2010 - Susan Boyle's "The Gift" official sales total was 1,852,000, weekly returns totalled 1,944,000.

As far as my top 100 list goes, the #92 (Chris Tomlin's "Burning Lights") would drop out as 56% of its sales were thru Christian outlets the last time the full charts leaked.

My sales estimate is 266,000 & she is #101 on my estimated list. She moves into the top 100 if we exclude Chris Tomlin's album.

I believe you also said 40,000 for Jackie Evancho in 2010 and another 25,000 in 2011 for Dream with Me.

Btw do you have an estimate for Jackie's Songs From The Silver Screen?

I've been told that Billboard knows the problem exists with The Roberson's total. Hopefully the SoundScan press release will have the correct total.

Yeah, don't forget those lists for year's Top 10 tend to favour those tracks that are released early on in a year, so they can have the whole year to sell and build up numbers. Some tracks that are released late in the year miss out because their sales are split over two years. An example is I Knew You Were Trouble which sold about 4.5-4.6 million in the US but had about 2.3 million of those sales in 2012.

I guess this affects albums too.

That's why lists for sales from RTD are better comparisons than yearly lists, although they all have their place.

Thanks for another year's worth of posting this thread, Oldbloke. I have really enjoyed following the Album and Singles YTD chart thread down the last few years (as a lurker). Almost time for a new thread for 2014! :D
