Your view is right.

HolidayGuy wrote:Thanks for the clarifications, guys- any other albums to post, or was all that info posted in one of the other threads? I know one of Ttue Blue's runs was posted somewhere, but not sure if it was all-inclusive.
Although I posted her chart-runs before, I have improved in detail also about chart-runs after "True Blue" now.
Since I post gradually, please wait.

Anju Suzuki is a Japanese actress.
Anju Suzuki recorded two songs in English in 1990 under the name Kakko "We should be dancing" and "What kind of fool". They were flops in the UK, but wasn't sure if they were released or hits in Japan....obviously they were not.
I got to know that she made the singles hit before in UK, and am surprised!!!
I think that there are few Japanese who know this fact.
Although I investigated the sales in Japan of Kakko, these singles were not entered.

Big, Bigger, Biggest/Mr. Big/1996-11-25
Fuyu No Sonata/Soundtrack/2003-7-4 -> What's this album? Never heard about it.

I believe there's more albums scanned close to million and missed the certifications.
Fuyu No Sonata is the sound track of the Korean movie.
I add data to the wonderful table which you made.

Jamiroquai sales are AMAZING :o

It's great to see the confirmation that debut or Greatest Hits albums can have sold 1M copies with sales of 300k/400k during their charted time.

From the table, I noticed that even sold 300,000 could be certified Million-seller in Japan, is it normal? How did it happen like this way? It's nonsense, to me. Then, how many albums sold over 300,000? So, some certified Million-seller and some not, did RIAJ includes sales of imports? Thanks.

Dangerous had pass months just out of charts, with all those sales not counted, the album sold obviously more than 400k. With imports and catalogue sales, it's nothing strange that albums like this one can be eligible to Million-Seller Award.

The Immaculate Collection sold 409k in charts, in 15 years, selling for example 500 copies by week on average (it's a greatest hits), so 500 x 52 x 15 = 390k, with imports you are already very high, and it's about sales, Awards certified shipments which are also higher...

RIAJ's certifications is based on the numbers which subtracted the numbers of return from the numbers of shipment.
I hear that shipped CD remained unsold considerably and had been piled on CD shop when CD sold explosively in the 1990s.
Furthermore, music companies has the tendency to report the number which padded the number of shipment, to RIAJ. Therefore, in the 1990s, I think that there was a difference in the number of shipment, and the actual number of sale considerably.

Yes- keep in mind that the sales numbers are just for time spent in the top 100 (unless indicated otherwise).

Thanks, Mario, and I look forward to the upcoming revised/comprehensive La Ciccone info. :)

Hi Mario,

it's only my impression or since you were able to find the sales in all formats (LP, CT, CD) for some artists the sales of many albums incresed substantially? Because i think that's what happened to the above albums "Whitney Houston" and "Whitney". If i give you a list of specific albums would you mind to recheck their sales in all formats for a future thread on which i'm working on?
It's possible for you to get Japanese certifications for any album of the 60's, 70's, 80's etc decades?

Thanks. You work is simply wonderful!

I newly got past Oricon yearbook and past Oricon weekly magazines. I understand the sales of albums and singles included in all the charts from 1981 to the present.
However, I understand only vinyl sales about albums before the 1970s.
