Could Have Been You, what a surprise! :D

I love The Chokin' Kind, she really delivers. It was indeed something different and beautiful when she appeared.

I don't think her debut is the best album, especially because she's getting better with time. Her techniques got more natural and she has control of her music now. I think what she offers in in LP1 and SS2 is simply fantastic.

I'm listening to Soul Sessions now, good memories! :o Her deep voice in Victim of a Foolish Heart and All The King's Horses... awesome!

I agree in part with what you say! But.... I love SS1 because it was really something out of the ordinary. All the rest was great and interesting and she is more mature, but SS! was just a teenage girl project, at aprts experimenting. So Ffresh and real that I cannot stop loving it.

But you know how this is! When ranking albums/songs it has a lot of influence the impact in your life and the memories! not just the quality :)

My fave part of the countdowns here are the album ranks for some reason, always read them even when I don't know/like the artists! Love the little summaries, comparisons with other albums etc.

Justin's TOP 20: Part 1
Image

20. Suit & Tie (feat. Jay-Z) (The 20/20 Experience)
When I heard this I thought he was going to finally come up with the best album ever. I think he is really talented, but somehow something is always missing. He is ALMOST perfect.
Eventually I think he will really release a gem.
Back to this song, I thought it was going to be mindblowing, the album I mean, but it was stucked in the middle.
The song is good.

19. Role Model (with FreeSol)
He tries too hard here to be the bad boy. I like the song anyway.
One negative thing about JT is that he lost a little of my respect for him after the Janet incident. I think he left her alone there. Maybe it was the best thing to do, she was realy under fire. But he was not supportive. He should redeem himself sometime in the future. He should be a role model.

18. Let's Take A Ride (Justified)
This R&B tune really captures my attentiion, I find it nice, very Janet Jackson style (as if there is one Janet Jackson style  )

17. Don't Hold The Wall (The 20/20 Experience)
Very Timbaland-esque. They are a good team, although I think that for his next album he should innovate.

16. Chop Me Up (feat. Timbaland & Three-6 Mafia) (FutureSex/LoveSounds)
Addictive beat.

15. (And She Said) Take Me Now (feat. Janet Jackson) (Justified)
Another very Janet-style of song.... oops, this is with Janet... she should be much more predominent in this song.

14. Señorita (Justified)
I hated this song, but with time I find this song obsessing. Great to be played live imo, never got the chance to see him but I think this should be perfect in a stadium.

13. Pusher Love Girl (The 20/20 Experience)
The problem with this album and songs is, imo, that they are too long. Not that long isn't good, it is just that they are too long and repetitive. In FSLS he made some songs with similar length but imo they were good like taht, they had changes of mood and they were interesting. This songs are good too, but they should have been shorter. He should know that a long song doesn't guarantee a good song. KISS (keep it short and simple)

12. Love Sex Magic (with Ciara)
Really sexy song. Good.

11. Take Back The Night (The 20/20 Experience: 2 Of 2)
I felt this second part was not a continuation but a left-overs album. This song is good though!

Justin Timberlake's TOP 20: Part 2
Image

10. FutureSex/LoveSound (FutureSex/LoveSounds)
He surprised me with the sound in this album. Great track.

9. Cry Me A River (Justified)
I started to follow him with FSLS. But some songs in Justified, such as this one, are really good. I think it was not a very gentleman's move to release this after breaking up with Britney, and all the rumours surrounding them. But the song is cool.

8. SexyBack (feat. Timbaland) (FutureSex/LoveSounds)
Fantastic track.

7. Mirrors (The 20/20 Experience)
Beautiful song & video. Touching.

6. Love Never Felt So Good (with Michael Jackson)
Great song, an outstanding collaboration. They fit together.

5. Like I Love You (feat. Clipse) (Justified)
Hot beat, addictive.

4. Dead and Gone (with T.I.)
Excellent track. I just couldn't stop listening to this when it was released.

3. What Goes Around.../...Comes Around (Interlude) (FutureSex/LoveSounds)
some people hate this. I think it is really catchy and abrosving. And Scarlet makes it extra interest.

2. LoveStoned/I Think She Knows (Interlude) (FutureSex/LoveSounds)
Outstanding track, excellent outro. Love it.

1. Rock Your Body (Justified)
Probably the first song I liked from him, although it was with FSLS taht I started to really pay attention.

BONUS TRACK - JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE's TOP ALBUMS

4. The 20/20 Experience: 2 Of 2 (2013) - My rating: 71.4
Image
This album sound like a left-over project. Songs are longer than necesary and not so interesting as the first part. The idea is not bad, the intention is appropiate, his style matches this sound. I think he just tried too hard.

3. Justified (2002) - My rating: 73.7
Image
An interesting debut album. I only got into it years later than the release date. It has some nice R&B tunes, some of them aged not so well. But he showed potential and some songs were really good.

2. The 20/20 Experience (2013) - My rating: 74.3
Image
It was interesting, but as I said, I think he tried too ahrd, he overproduced songs and the result is kind of hit&miss. But all in all it is a good project.

1. FutureSex/LoveSounds (2006) - My rating: 76.3
Image
I think this is so far his most thrilling piece of music. Songs are long but they don't sound boring, mixing songs and interludes really worked here.

How I Met... Justin Timberlake

I knew him from N'Sync. From all the pop bands, I always thought N'Sync was the most interesting, although I didn't pay much attention to none of them. I rememebr listening to Like I Love You and Cry Me A River, but it was with Rock With You that I thought he was ready to become a good artist. FSLS blew my mind and he gained much respect musically. The 20/20 experience was a good move in the paper but msically he couldn't live up to the expectations.
Anyway, I think he is a really interesting act.

Keith Urban's TOP 40: Part 1
Image

40. Walkin' The Country (In The Ranch)
From one of Urban's first albums. Loving this country music! Perfect to go in your car in the road. In two weeks I am going away and I always make sure I have a country music cd with me.

39. Put You In A Song (Get Closer)
I like his uplifting tunes.

38. Country Comfort (Be Here)

37. We Were Us (feat. Miranda Lambert) (Fuse)
Love the changes in the pace between verses and chorus.

36. Raise 'Em Up (feat. Eric Church) (Fuse)
I enjoy this duet a lot, they have different styles but in this song they merge.

35. Big Promises
I really find amusing the cheesy side of country music.

34. One Chord Song
Great! Short and perfect.

33. Sweet Thing (Defying Gravity)

32. Red Camaro (Fuse)
Wierd structure, but I find this catchy.

31. It's A Love Thing (Keith Urban II)
Just realized he chaged his teeth... as many other. Great sog to finish this update.

Keith Urban's TOP 40: Part 2
Image

30. If Ever I Could Love (Defying Gravity)
He makes some nice love songs.

29. Got It Bad (Keith Urban)
Good he changed that hair!

28. God's Been Good To Me (Be Here)
A song to clap along, the ones that I enjoy.

27. All For You (Get Closer)
No, it is not Janet's cover... it would have been weird!

26. My Heart Is Open (Defying Gravity)

25. Just Some Love (In The Ranch)
I love Nicole Kidman. Ever since that movie in the boat from Australia, then Malice, the Gus Van sant one.... flawless. She is a perfect mixture of fragility but at the same time strong & independent. Nothing to do with this song, only because the video showed some pictures of her
This song is really good.

24. Song For Dad (Golden Road)
If my son comes up one day with a song like this, cheesy but lovely, I think my heart would explode. He seems so down to earth writing this honest and straight to the point songs.

23. Somebody Like You (Golden Road)
Another great song to be played in the car, windows down, on a roadtrip.

22. Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me (Golden Road)
Well, having married Nicole, I want! (no problem, my wife knows I have this crush)

21. Once In A Lifetime (Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing)

Keith Urban's TOP 40: Part 3
Image

20. You Gonna Fly (Get Closer)
Nice live video. I think he must be good alive.

19. Come Back to Me (Fuse)

18. Desiree (In The Ranch)
Another cool song for the roadtrip.

17. Better Life (Be Here)
A classic Keith sound.

16. Tonight I Wanna Cry (Be Here)
He has some really beautiful ballads such as this one.

15. Nobody Drinks Alone (Be Here)
I've read he had some issues with drinking.

14. I Wanna Be Your Man Forever (Keith Urban II)
Such an uplifting and funny song. Love this country style too.

13. Somewhere in My Car (Fuse)

12. Where The Blacktop Ends (Keith Urban II)
Love when country meets a rocker side.

11. Days Go By (Be Here)

For your JT countdown, I must say I am glad to see Dead And Gone, What Goes Around and Love Stoned that high. Absolutely outstanding Songs.

And I never knew Janet was featured on Take Me Now (although I own the Album . . . ) :o Let me listen to it again.

Keith Urban's TOP 40: Part 4
Image

Lucky him!

10. Stupid Boy (Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing)
I like this song as I think it is all about Tom Cruise/Nicole. And I have a deep crush on Nicole since To Die For.

9. Some Days You Gotta Dance (In The Ranch)
Great song to dance a little bit.

8. Little Bit of Everything (Fuse)
Simple and very radio frinedly song.

7. Making Memories Of Us (Be Here)

6. The Hard Way (Be Here)
Another nice love song.

5. 'Til Summer Comes Around (Defying Gravity)
The link is with John Mayer. Two artists I really like in a great version.

4. Shine (Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing)
Nice uplifting tune.

3. If You Wanna Stay (Keith Urban II)

2. These Are The Days (Be Here)
I really love how this song grows constantly.

1. You'll Think Of Me (Golden Road)
A perfect song for a broken heart. I loved it, this is the song that made me a KU fan, so I'll let that story for tomorrow when I am sharing Keith's top albums.

Take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories, I don't need'em
Take your space and take your reasons
But you'll think of me
And take your cap and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me, you'll think of me

I'll do it soon! I am thinking about a Version 2.0, so I'll wrap up Kaith Urban albums soon and then kick off the new design with KT. But the end of the year is complicated, and I am now kind of busy with The Leo Awards :D

But I'll keep this soon! After my brief trip I stopped but don't worry, even if nobody is checking, I am persistent! So knowing that you are somehow around keeps me more motivated  THANKS!

In fact, I think my ranking will show your influence as I found out a lot of B-sides there that will probably rank in mine!

BONUS TRACK - JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE's TOP ALBUMS

9. Keith Urban (1991) - My rating: 70.5
Image
Very young Keith, nothing exceptional, just for fans.

8. In The Ranch (1997) - My rating: 72.7
Image
He had a group called The Ranch, but it was all about him I think. The big highlight is Some Days You Gotta Dance, a song that was later covered by Dixie Chicks. In fact I knew this song from them, and then found out Keith wa sthe first one to record it. Both versions are fun and anjoybale.

7. Keith Urban II (1999) - My rating: 73.3
Image
Another self-titled album, with 8 years gap in between. He improved album after album, releasing in this case a characteristic set of songs: a little touch of a carefree upbeat tune, then some flavours of very romantic songs all wrapped up with some classic country rhythms. He kind of repeated this recipe until today.

6. Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing (2006) - My rating: 73.5
Image
First album I bought from him after he blew my mind some time before. He was with Nicole, and you can feel her around. As I said, for me Stupid Boy is all about Tom Cruise. Shine is a very great song, cheesy but effective.

5. Get Closer (2010) - My rating: 73.8
Image
VERY short album, almost an EP, whch was dissapointing for me. No stand-out song but a very balanced set.

4. Golden Road (2002) - My rating: 74.8
Image
This set contains You'll Think Of Me.... a song I was (and still am) obsessed about. So beautiful... The rest is great, with Song For Dad as another great thing.

3. Defying Gravity (2009) - My rating: 75.5
Image
Good set of songs, again with nothing outstanding but all good songs. I think taht since Love, Pain... he kind of got stucked, only outdoing himself in his last set.

2. Fuse (2013) - My rating: 76.5
Image
First time in a while he delivered some outstanding songs. The Eric Church duet had me hooked but then it kind of felt bland. The Miranda Lambert lived up for the expecttions. The whole album is a step forward.

1. Be Here (2004) - My rating: 79.2
Image
The album is fantastic from start to finish. And is packed with some outstanding songs! Really good album for country music lovers.

How I Met... Keith Urban

Grammy Awards 2006... I was almost asleep, and then the guitar started to play, and this guy who I knew nothing about started to sing to me... I just broke up with my 4 year old girlfriend, and then this guy was singing this great break-up song. Sad but encouraging. Hurt but not broken. Loved it. Needles to say I had to investigate a lot to know he was Keith Urban, and then I got his whole discography.

well, finally Keith is gone, after 2 months lol.

2014 went by and I started this thread so as to share some of my favs songs and acts. 28 artists were already presented with 900 songs!!!

And 2015 will come with KT Tusntall and then some more great artists, 32 to be precise. Hope you haveenjoyed this so far and that you keep coming next year!

I'll try yo improve my terrible presentation. Don't expect nothing like mrlemonade or Wardo, but do expect more than this lack of design lol.

I am about to edit the second post with updated info. See you all soon!

Listen to me... Listen to me... Listen to me...

KT is the girl from the Ford commercial here in Argentina. That commercial whispered to me each time "Listen to me... Listen to me..." And when I did, a magical thing happened.

Magic in its purest form: whenever you hear an artist for a first time and you instantly realize that the bond being created is going to last forever.

Here is the first part of this journey, the design inspired by Wardo's Awards  We'll see if in the future I come up with an original idea. Of course, you can click in each banner to hear the song. Hope you like KT as much as I do.

Image

When there's mortal fragility
And beautiful ability
There must be a reason
To why we all survive and feel this alive

Image

Beautiful version and video. A private show by the fire, dreamy.

Image

And when I build you a steeple
You say it's incomplete
'Cause you need the whole cathedral
To satisfy your need

Image

A perfect fresh song into a great pop album.

Image

I was happy in my harbor
When you cut me loose
Floating on an ocean and confused

Winds are whipping waves up like skyscrapers
And the harder they hit me
The less I seem to bruise

Oh, when I find the controls
I'll go where I like
I'll know where I want to be

But maybe for now I'll stay right here
On a silent sea

Image

And if I change
Am I denying what was said?

Image

And whenever you go it's like holding my breath under water
I have to admit that I kinda like it when I do
Oh, but I got to be unconditionally unafraid of my days without you

Image

According to KT "...it was one of my first attempts at mixing a picked acoustic tune with electronica". Interesting.

Image

The guitar here is gorgeous.

Image

Fantastic discovery.
