So has 1989 sold more than Buble's Christmas album this decade?

^ I had sales of 45,000 for the 7 weeks it spent of the TCA chart. In the 7 weeks since it dropped out of the chart I'd guess somewhere in the region of 10,000-15,000 more.

The blogs that have the Country and Metal album sales did not have sales articles this week. UGH. Good luck, oldbloke!

I'd estimate around 110,000 - that includes 8,000 or so from week 52, its 2nd biggest weekly number.

Sadly with the current album chart now slashed to only 100 places, attempting to track albums such as this one becomes virtually impossible.

Still hopeful that roughstock will post later today. Also hoping Billboard put out those genre top tens like they did at the half year.

Singles

Shifting our attention to digital songs, 2014 was only the second year (following 2013) where sales of the configuration fell. 1.1 billion song downloads were sold in 2014, down 12 percent from the 1.26 billion in 2013. Nielsen began tracking song download sales in the summer of 2003, shortly after Apple's iTunes Music Store bowed in April of that year.

The top selling digital song of 2014 is Pharrell Williams' "Happy" with 6.45 million downloads sold. To compare, in 2013, the top seller was Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" (which featured Williams and T.I.), with 6.5 million (6.498 to be more exact).

"Happy" is the 21st biggest selling download of all time, and one of only 29 songs to sell more than 6 million downloads. (The biggest selling download ever is The Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" with 8.62 million.)

As for the rest of 2014's top selling download songs: John Legend's "All Of Me" is the runner-up with 4.67 million, while Katy Perry's "Dark Horse," featuring Juicy J, is No. 3 with 4.43 million. Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" is No. 4 with 4.36 million, Iggy Azalea's "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX, is No. 5 with 3.97 million.

Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty," featuring 2 Chainz, was the year's sixth-largest seller, with 3.96 million. DJ Snake & Lil Jon's "Turn Down For What" is No. 7 with 3.45 million, Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" is No. 8 with 3.43 million and Idina Menzel's "Let It Go" is No. 9 with 3.37 million. Rounding out the year's top 10 sellers is Sam Smith's "Stay With Me," with 3.34 million.

In total, 82 songs sold at least a million downloads in 2014 (down from 106 in 2013 and 108 in 2012). 25 shifted at least 2 million in 2014 (down from 38 in 2013 and 41 in 2012).

I asked on the Roughstock Facebook page if they could post the Country album sales from last week.

I'm waiting so impatiently for the final figures. LOL

The War On Drugs album was covered a few posts up on this page with sales estimated at 110,000,
The St Vincent album probably sold around the same number.
The other 2 I really don't know as they spent very little time on the BB200/TCA charts. I would doubt if either has passed the 50K mark though.

Thanks Oldbloke for the final numbers for the year. I remember about mid-way through the year I was predicting only 2 1 million sellers and 15 half million sellers. But its double that although still significantly down from 2013.

I have an interesting question here. How did Ariana Grande's album "My Everything" get certified platinum on December 2, 2014 by the RIAA when the album to date has only sold 517,000 copies? Its at #26 on the top albums chart and only sold 11,000 copies this past week. Did retailers simply over order this album? Its one of only 4 albums released in 2014 to be certified platinum. Lucky for Ariana that she has a platinum album while only barely crawling over the 500,000 mark.

^Her label, Republic Records, lied to the RIAA about her shipment figures.

This has NEVER happened before to an album that had only sold 407,000 copies.

Republic then did the same to Lorde. Only 1.5 million sold, but 2xP.

These certifications threaten the credibility of the RIAA's Gold & Platinum program.

Unlike what bigham said, I don't think they lied, but they overshipped it because, as pointed out, it's FAR from one million scanned. Luckily for other labels, they haven't done something that foolish. It should've just been certified gold... but whatever.
