Oh i hope Selena's "Good For You" will grow on you then. "Adore" is very good, hopefully it turns out to be successful in Germany and other countries - glad you like it now :)

IrishLamb wrote:Great to see Bitch I’m Madonna & Invincible debuting, both are good.
Glad you like both, however i think both artists already released (way) better singles..

Magnus wrote:Great that Hilary's album climbs to #1 and that the Airplay chart looks almost exactly like I "predicted" last week . I miss the title track though, for me that song is by far the best on the album. Selena's song I haven't listened to much yet but it definitely has the potential to become a hit with me if I can find/create a good version without that ****** rapper :D.
I think i just needed some time to get into the album, but now i think it's really good, definitely one of the better pop albums of the year so far. I knew you'd miss the title track, but i'm not a big fan of that one  Well, it's obviously not bad at all, but the ones on the airplay charts are better for me. I hope you like the video version for Selena's song, that's without the rapper :)

I hope so too. It looks good so far, especially compared to most of her other singles :)

thanks so much for all comments

week 27/2015 – 2 july 2015 It’s still all about Selena & Hilary

Image
    Singles Top40
Selena Gomez easily gets a second week on top with her new single “Good For You”, becoming the eighth song with multiple weeks on top of this year so far. Interestingly, seven of these eight songs only spent two weeks at number one, with “Élan” by Nightwish being the longest running number one of the year so far with five weeks. Jasmine Thompson remains at #2 for a third week with “Adore”, followed by the first new entry.

It was a very quiet week compared to the previous ones, as there are only three new arrivals and no re-entry, and while two of the new entries are in the lower part of the charts, the highest one gets a Top3 debut. The song is called “Dance With The Devil” and is a new single by french newcomer Marina Kaye. “Dance With The Devil” joins “Sounds Like Heaven” (7-5) and her debut single “Homeless” (13-10) as her third single inside the Top10 this week. But it gets even better for the singer, as “Sounds Like Heaven” is also getting certified with Gold this week, being her first song to do so. The second highest new entry comes in twenty positions lower at #23. 77 Bombay Street is a swiss band and had two very successful albums in Switzerland, with their second one “Oko Town” also making my charts (#3 back in autumn 2012). The band now finally announced their third album, which is called “Seven Mountains” and will be released in september, with the lead single – the title track – being out now and becoming their second chart entry (#23). Last but not least, Guy Sebastian already gets his fourth entry from his album “Madness” in a very short span, as “Come Home With Me” debuts at #29. His other entries “Like A Drum” (17-26), “Mama Ain’t Proud” (30-27) and “Tonight Again” (32-36) are near as well.

Apart from the already mentioned songs, there wasn’t that much action in the Top10. Major Lazer is back up 5-4 with “Lean On”, which becomes his first Gold certified single, Jessie J’s “Flashlight” falls 3-6, followed by Taylor Swift whose back up 9-7 with “Bad Blood”. Hilary Duff’s “Sparks” remains pretty stable after the huge increase the last time (6-8) and Madonna’s “Bitch I’m Madonna” is already down 4-9.

Ed Sheeran gets a push for “Photograph”, which is up 23-12. The song wasn’t that high since its entry at #4 six weeks ago. After losing positions each week, Nightwish’s “Élan” is also back up 20-15. Meanwhile, the newer single “Endless Forms Most Beautiful” already leaves the charts after only seven weeks, but it could come back in november when they tour over here. Lindsey Stirling’s “Take Flight” (21-18) and “Ain’t Nobody (Loves Me Better)” by Felix Jaehn and Jasmine Thompson (22-19) are two of the biggest hits of the year, and both climb back into the upper half of the charts.

While this week was pretty quite overall, it’s already a sure thing that there’ll be a very high new entry next week, as Demi Lovato just released her new single “Cool For The Summer”, which fits very well to the current time over here as it’s over 35° and the sun keeps on shining. Maybe she will score her second top hit?

Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph” is the biggest climber while Maraaya’s “Here For You” is the biggest loser for the second consecutive week (29-40).

    Album Top20
Hilary Duff defends her top position as “Breathe In. Breathe Out.” spends a second week at number one. It’s just the sixth album with multiple weeks on top of this year so far, after “Let Us Burn” by Within Temptation (2 weeks, plus two more last year), Björk’s “Vulnicura” (3 weeks), Madonna’s “Rebel Heart” (2 weeks), Tarja’s “Luna Park Ride” (3 weeks) and “Endless Forms Most Beautiful” by Nightwish as the longest running album of the year so far with seven weeks. There’s currently no big new release in the next weeks, so there’s a chance that Hilary can grab some more weeks.

Lena is back up 3-2 with her current album “Crystal Sky”, spending already her seventh week inside the Top5. She switches positions with Tarja, who slips 2-3 with “Luna Park Ride”. Marina Kaye was really unlucky with her record, because despite being successful, she was held back by lots of other entries that were even stronger, but the longevity is on her side and so “Fearless” is back up 8-4 in its seventh week, as it’s currently more quiet on the charts. It also gets certified with Gold, being one of only two albums that were released this year that didn’t peak on top of the charts, but still getting certified, with the other being Conchita Wurst’s debut album. Someone else who was pretty successful despite a lowish peak is australian superstar Guy Sebastian. His current album “Madness” is also back up 7-5, being back to its peak from five weeks ago. Nightwish’s “Endless Forms Most Beautiful” rises 9-6, followed by “Beneath The Skin” by Of Monsters And Men which is down 4-7, Adam Lambert falls 6-8 with “The Original High”, Jessie J’s “Sweet Talker” is back in the Top10 (11-9) and Conchita Wurst’s “Conchita” has a surprising drop as it’s down 5-10 after six weeks in the Top5.

Despite being very successful with his hit “Heroes”, Måns Zelmerlöw’s album “Perfectly Damaged” isn’t that successful and already falls out of the Top10 in its fourth week (10-12). Lindsey Stirling on the other side is very successful, and both of her albums spent many weeks on the charts. This week, both are climbing back, with “Shatter Me” re-entering the charts at #13 and her self-titled debut being back at #18.

.
    Airplay Top10
It wasn’t only on the Singles Top40 and the Album Top20 quiet, it was also quiet on the Airplay Top10 which is a very rare situation. Only one song is new compared to the last time, and Selena Gomez easily gets another week on top. “Good For You” got another 153 plays within the last week, that’s only two less than a week ago. Jasmine Thompson remains at #2 with “Adore”, and Hilary Duff closes the Top3 once again with “Rebel Hearts”.

While “Chasing The Sun” falls out of the Top10, Hilary still owns another six entries. “Lies” remains at #4, “My Kind” (6-5) switches positions with “Sparks” (5-6) and “One In A Million” switches positions with “Confetti” (7-8), while “All About You” is up 10-9. The only new song is a re-entry and comes from Nightwish. The band already had a stellar chartrun with “Élan” and is now back at #10.

Plays of the Top10 went down by 90 to 334 (-21.2%) compared to last week.

Another week at #1 for Selena and Hilary :D

And a climb for Bad Blood! What would you like for the 5th single? I'd be happy with a majority of the songs if I'm honest but I'd prefer it to be either OOTW, Wildest Dreams and maybe Wonderland. New Romantics would be okay too

"Photograph" by Ed S. will be entering my top 10 this week, but what I really want to express is my appreciation for the new "Of Monsters And Men"-album!

Not surprising to see a second week at #1 for Selena, her lead must be huge with those numbers! Great to see Hilary put in another strong week. Weird single choice from Marina's album, I didn't know that song had become a single.

Chart Run: 30-*4*-4-7-10-13-10- / 7w

This is really good song, enters my chart this week too. :D Another one to watch in the coming weeks. Don't know much about Marina other than that Homeless was #1 in France a couple of weeks ago.

12 (23) Ed Sheeran – Photograph
Chart Run: *4*-16-21-17-24-23-12- / 7w

Felix Jaehn has done a remix of Photograph which has brought the song back to my radar. Maybe a re-entry next week? It pretty much entered and dropped back out of my top 20 a few weeks back. Then again, so did Thinking out loud at the start, and look how successful that song did in my chart. :P

You really do love Eurovision. :D I've not listened to any of the entries in the last week - not even Heroes. :P

love the climb for 'Bad Blood' this week.

And good to see "Stole The Show" not dropping off this week but reaching a new Peak. I must say I thought the live Version on the GNTM final was totally not my Thing but I love the Studio Version tbh.

And a climb for Bad Blood! What would you like for the 5th single? I'd be happy with a majority of the songs if I'm honest but I'd prefer it to be either OOTW, Wildest Dreams and maybe Wonderland. New Romantics would be okay too
Sure, both still well deserved IMO 8-)

Good question. My fave non-single is "I Know Places", so i would love to see this as a single, not sure if it would work though. OOTW would be the perfect choice, and depending on how many singles she releases, i think "Wildest Dreams" would be the best choice for the final release.

RalphyS wrote:"Photograph" by Ed S. will be entering my top 10 this week, but what I really want to express is my appreciation for the new "Of Monsters And Men"-album!
That's great, i really like the song. Glad to hear you like their new album, it seems so underrated :(

Magnus wrote:Not surprising to see a second week at #1 for Selena, her lead must be huge with those numbers! Great to see Hilary put in another strong week. Weird single choice from Marina's album, I didn't know that song had become a single.
It really was, but Jasmine was still strong too.
Marina released a video for "Dance With The Devil" last week. So you're not that into the song? I think it was a good choice, but "Freeze You Out" and "Mirror Mirror" would have been better choices.

Flashlight by Jessie J is good too.
Glad you like these two entries :D

Really good to see you like some entries here! :D
There are definitely a few songs i like (much) more from him, but it's such a sweet pop song... i'm actually positively surprised about his success with this, as i thought it would flop harder than "Bloodstream"... and i just got into the song due to its release to be honest :)

Hi Jake :D

Overall or this year?
For this year it's currently Nightwish's "Élan" with 285 plays. Overall i had no idea so far, so i just checked... and it seems to be "Élan" too :o I only count them since 2013 though, so it's possible that there was another song before. I guess Kerli's "Army Of Love" could be the one, as i remember i played it non-stop for a whole weekend and i spent the whole day listening to it when it came out in late 2010.

I didn't know that much as well, but i checked this out as a random pick and ended up buying the album just one or two days afterwards, and it's really good. I like her other song "Sounds Like Heaven" more though :)

Yes   Always one of the best weeks of the year to be honest, and musically it was a good year this time. I made a little playlist with my faves and i still listen to it every now and then, but haven't done so for some time now. That's also why some more entries wil fall out of the charts this week...

It's definitely the best single so far IMO, should have good longevity here :)

Oh really? :o Because that was the reason why i started to like the song. But the studio version is currently growing on me too, so it could rise even further in the upcoming weeks...

thanks so much for all comments

week 28/2015 – 9 july 2015 We’re Cool For The Summer & History has been made on the album charts!

Image
    Singles Top40
While there wasn’t that much action on the charts the last time, it’s completely different this time, as there are six new entries and one re-entry, with one of these new arrivals even getting a top debut. After some first entries with her third album “Unbroken”, Demi Lovato’s fourth album “Demi” was her real breakthrough on my personal charts, spawning several Top10 hits and going Platinum. Now she’s back with the lead single of her upcoming fifth album, as she released the song “Cool For The Summer”, which becomes her second number one single. She pushes Selena Gomez away with this, who slips 1-2 with “Good For You” in its third week, while Jasmine Thompson slips 2-3 with “Adore” in its fourth week.

Already a second new entry just missed the Top3. Swedish country folk pop duo First Aid Kit are making their debut with “My Silver Lining” at #4. They’re making a milestone on the album charts, but more about that below. Rita Ora is also back. The UK singer scored a big pop hit with “I Will Never Let You Down” last year, which ended up at #25 on the Year-End Charts 2014 as her biggest hit by far. Recently, she finally released “Poison” as the official follow-up single and debuts at #13. Two positions lower is fellow UK musician Leona Lewis, who debuts with her new single “Fire Under My Feet”. It’s her first regular single to make an appearance since “Run” incredible seven years ago, and the first notation overall since christmas single “One More Sleep” (#28 in 2013).

It seems like some UK artists are finally ready to release new stuff. First Rita, then Leona and now John Newman. The singer had a pretty successful debut album with “Tribute” back in 2013, and now he’s back with “Come And Get It” at #28, the lead single of his upcoming album. His only charting single so far is “Love Me Again”, which peaked at a moderate #24, but still managed to stay on the charts for eight week. To make it perfect, there’s even a fourth artist from the UK whose making an entry this week, and it’s Foxes. Her debut album “Glorious” spawned the singles “Let Go For Tonight” (#17), “Holding Onto Heaven” (#33) and “Glorious” (#15) last year, so the #40-entry for the new single “Body Talk” seems very disappointing. And as mentioned, there’s also a re-entry with the big european hit “Are You With Me” by Lost Frequencies being back at #34.

Marina Kay still owns three entries in the Top10. Current single “Dance With The Devil” is down 3-5, followed by “Sounds Like Heaven” which slips 5-6 and “Homeless” which is back up 10-8. Major Lazer leaves the Top5 as “Lean On” is down 5-7, Taylor Swift is back down 7-9 with “Bad Blood” and Jessie J falls 6-10 with “Flashlight”, which closes the Top10.

Swiss band 77 Bombay Street seems to get a new hit. While “Low On Air” as their only entry so far peaked at #14 three years ago, “Seven Mountains” soars 23-11 and has high chances to become their first Top10 entry. The many high new entries caused several big drops, such as Hilary Duff’s “Sparks” (8-20), Madonna’s “Bitch I’m Madonna” (9-24), Sia’s “Fire Meet Gasoline” (14-27) and Conchita Wurst’s “Heroes” (16-29). But the biggest drop goes to Of Monsters And Men, who crashes down 17-38 with “Crystals”.

It’s definitely summer, and it’s been a while since the Eurovision Song Contest was held. While some of the entries were very successful, this week is the first week for a while that there’s none of these entries in the upper half of the weekly charts. And as four entries fall out of the charts, winner Måns Zelmerlöw also remains the only entry on the whole charts with “Heroes” (20-22).

77 Bombay Street are the biggest climber with “Seven Mountain” while Of Monsters And Men’s “Crystals” is the biggest loser.

    Album Top20
History has been made on the album charts this week. For the first time ever since the invention of the album charts in the first week of 2010, an album gets the top position on the weekly charts that i don’t own physically and digitally. But how did this happen? Well, first of all, i usually buy every album i want physically, so it’s already a rare thing that an album goes to number one that i don’t own physically, but this already happened twice with Ariana Grande’s “Christmas Kisses” (2013) and Seven Lions’ “Worlds Apart” (2014), two EPs that were only released digitally so there was no option to get them physically. Björk’s “Vulnicura” also reached the top spot earlier this year due to her digital release, but i got its physical copy as soon as it got released around two months afterwards. But this week, the number one goes straight to number one due to something new called Apple Music. The streaming service by Apple is my first try with streaming ever, and since i fell in love with a song, i decided to stream the whole album and i immediately loved it. But there’s a big chance i’ll add a physical copy of the album to my collection soon, but it’s still a milestone of my charts, somehow.

The most important thing is obviously who that artist is. It’s swedish country-folk-pop duo First Aid Kit, who released their second album called “Stay Gold” already back in 2014, but just started to get some attention as their single “My Silver Lining” is featured in a TV ad. Hilary loses the top spot after two weeks and slips 1-2 with “Breathe In. Breathe Out.”, followed by Nightwish who are back in the Top3 after seven weeks (6-3). That’s actually a big deal for them, as the only weeks inside the Top3 for “Endless Forms Most Beautiful” were its seven weeks at number one.

Lena’s “Crystal Sky” is down 2-4, Marina Kaye’s debut “Fearless” slips 4-5 and Tarja leaves the Top3 after five weeks as “Luna Park Ride” falls 3-6. Guy Sebastian is back to #7 with “Madness” (5-7), Adam Lambert stays at #8 with “The Original High”, Måns Zelmerlöw is back in the Top10 with “Perfectly Damaged” (12-9) and Of Monsters And Men are the last entry in the Top10 with “Beneath The Skin” (7-10).

Jessie J is showing some good longevtiy with her current album “Sweet Talker”, despite having released no single for a long time now. Well, bascially she’s charting high with “Flashlight” (#10), but that song isn’t from “Sweet Talker”. This week, the album is down 9-13. Conchita Wurst’s debut also leaves the Top10 as it falls 10-14.

    Airplay Top10
Demi Lovato also gets a top debut on the Airplay Top10 as “Cool For The Summer” debuts at number one. The song had a full week and got played 110 times, which makes “Cool For The Summer” the seventh song with at least one week above 100 plays this year so far. Selena Gomez’s “Good For You” slips 1-2, but still got another good 54 plays, while First Aid Kit got just one less than Selena and debut at #3 with “My Silver Lining”.

Jasmine Thompson leaves the Top3 after three weeks as “Adore” is down 2-4, followed by 77 Bombay Street. The swiss band gets their first entry ever on the airplay charts, as “Seven Mountains” got played 18 times and enters the charts at #5. Nightwish’s “Élan” is up 10-6 in its 14th week.

While Hilary has to give the top position on the album charts away and loses three entries, she still owns four entries on the Airplay Top10. The single “Sparks” is her highest one, as it only slips 6-7, followed by “My Kind” (5-8). “Rebel Hearts” falls 3-9 and “Lies” closes the Top10 (4-10).

Plays of the Top10 went down by 12 to 346 (+3.6%) compared to last week.

I see you discovered First Aid Kit :) it was in my list a long time ago!

Good new entries for Leona Lewis & John Newman.

On another note, tomorrow I will be going to a local festival http://www.parkcitylive.nl and Within Temptation is headlining, I know you're a huge fan!

Ah, so it's Apple's fault that boring First Aid Kit album became your #1 album (I first looked at the charts without reading all the text). I wouldn't listen to that again if my life depended on it... Surprised you never checked out Spotify :o. I've been subscribing to that for years and it's great both for discovering artists I've never heard of before and to notice new releases by artists I've liked before (including obscure ones). I will try Apple Music too (no reason not to when it's free for 3 months) but doubt I'm going to switch permanently.

Great that Hilary Duff is still successful on your charts. Cool For The Summer is pretty good too even though it won't get anywhere near #1 on my chart.
