Magnus wrote:I forgot to comment last week. Nice to see a third week at #1 for "Ghost". I haven't heard (or heard of) Isabel Ment, will check out her song in a few days.

New entries by Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, Kelly Clarkson and Rachel Platten, it sounds like I should really like them. And all of those songs are at least decent, but at the same time far from the best I've heard from those artists, even if only songs from 2015 are considered. Selena should have released "Sober" or "Me and the Rhythm" as the third single imo (or "Cologne", but that was of course never going to happen since it is just a bonus track).

Good to see Selena and Jaël going up on the albums chart! The top 4 is a bit meh (or worse) though.
No problem! Glad you like "Ghost"'s success. Isabel Ment is also from the 'The Voice Of Germany' and became 4th in the show. I think you may like her song :)

Well i agree that all these new songs don't belong to the best songs of those artists.
I'd love to see a release for "Kill Em With Kindness" when it comes to Selena, as this is my favorite album track. "Sober" would be a good choice as well.

There'll be some changes in the Top4 this week, but i'm glad you like the climbs for the two artists you've mentioned :)

Dankeschön und viele Grüße in die Schweiz.
Thanks, happy new year to you too, stevyy! :)

abnercon wrote:Need to check out your #1, I never heard it. I was also reading an article about Grimes' (Claire Elise Boucher) project being self-written and self-produced...need to check her out.
I hope you like these two :)

KokoCollino wrote:OK so I finally got into "Hands To Myself" after having watched the video, although the vid is like a "Dauerwerbesendung"

I am sooo confused around Ellie's singles! Is "Army" a single now? "SITWYM" is a new entry on the German airplay chart on #84, and it really needs quite a few spins to get there, so it can't be just due to some Ellie fans at German radio randomly playing it...
I get what you mean and i have to agree  It's still great though, and i'm glad you got into the song :)

No idea... i guess both are singles now. "Army" is currently inside the iTunes Top30 in the UK and starting to grow on Spotify in the US, Switzerland and other countries, while SITWYM is charting in Germany and the Netherlands. I'm happy with both to be honest, and the "Halcyon" era was already messy so as long as the songs are good and she gets success she can release whatever she wants and how much she wants

Mainshow wrote:Wow! What a strike for "Ghost". I'm surprised you loved it that much! I also think it's a great track but I have to admit that it has grown off me quite fast. However, I cannot wait to hear more original material from her.

Great debut for Selena's "Hands To Myself"; hopefully, it will get a new peak soon. :D

Ariana's "Love Is Everything" is such a great Christmas song! - I don't like her other Christmas songs to be honest.. but this is freaking catchy.

I haven't known that Rachel Platten has released a new single. Need to listen to it soon ;)

It's a pity that "Ghosttown" and Guy Sebastian are already out. I really thought that - since you liked her concert that much, Madonna would spend more weeks on your charts at least.
I played the song over 200 times since it came out, which is an incredible number these days. The song could have been better though, but i really like Jamie. Shame she never released the covers of the show like "Warriors" or "The Hanging Tree". I hope they'll be on the album...

I think #2 will be its peak  It's not one of my favorite songs of the album, you know
Glad you like "Love Is Everything", it's definitely her best christmas song so far.

She even released a new album called "Wildfire" last friday (only digitally in some countries like Germany, physical release will follow on the 22nd january). And it's really good! :)

Oh what made you think i liked the concert? :o It was okay at best. Definitely the worst concert i've been in 2015 and from all i've seen in my life the 2nd worst after her very own "MDNA" tour

"Delirium" and "Blue Neighbourhood" should recover a bit over the next few days, not sure about "Storyteller" though...

thanks so much for all comments

week 01/2016 – 7 januar 2016 New #1s for a new year

Image
    Singles Top40
The first number one single of the year goes to Birdy! The british singer-songwriter released her new single called „Keeping Your Head Up“ last friday as the lead single of her upcoming, yet untitled third studio album, and collects her very first top song with it. She blocks swedish hit maker and former ESC winner Loreen, who is back as well with her very first song in swedish called „Under ytan“. The song becomes her seventh consecutive single to peak inside the Top2, and is only her second to miss the top spot after „Paper Light (Higher)“. Closing the Top3 is Jamie-Lee Kriewitz, who is down 1-3 with her „Ghost“.

Apart from the Top2, there are several more new and re-entries on the charts. Taylor Swift already scored a little hit with „Out Of The Woods“ when it was released as a promo single for her album „1989“ in late 2014. The song was released as the sixth proper single now as she released its video last friday, and it re-enters the charts at #6 which was also its debut and peak position over a year ago. Rachel Platten is having a re-entry as well as her „Fight Song“ is back at #24 thanks to her album „Wildfire“, which makes its debut on the album charts this week. Swiss pop band Pegasus recently re-released their album „Love & Gunfire“, which had no impact on my album charts, but the new single „Streets Of My Hometown“ enters the charts at #23 now. Just a few spots below is EFF, a collaboration of german DJ and producer Felix Jaehn and german hip hopper Mark Forster, with their song „Stimme“ (#26). Troye Sivan gets another entry from his debut „Blue Neighbourhood“, as the new single „Youth“ debuts at #28. It follows „Talk Me Down“, which is rising a bit this week (35-32). The last new arrival is „Perfect“ by One Direction, who barely made the charts (#40).

Isabel Ment slips one position with „In Reverse“ (3-4), followed by Selena Gomez who is down 2-5 with „Hands To Myself“. Lindsey Stirling’s „Hallelujah“ descends 4-7, with „Army“ by Ellie Goulding going down three positions as well (5-8). Selena Gomez gets a second entry in the Top10 as „Same Old Love“ recovers 14-9, while Jess Glynne’s „Take Me Home“ closes the Top10 with „Take Me Home“ (6-10).

After two weeks at #7, Grimes’ „Flesh Without Blood“ already leaves the Top10 (7-11), together with The Weeknd’s „In The Night“ which only spent one week in that part (9-12). Rachel Platten gets a second Top20 hit as „Stand By You“ increases 26-17 due to the album release. It probably looks like it will rise even further next week. Elle King is also back in the Top20 with „Ex’s & Oh’s“ (23-18), also due to her album „Love Stuff“ making its entry on the album charts.

The biggest climber is „Stand By You“ by Rachel Platten, while Ariana Grande’s „Santa Baby“ is the biggest loser of the week by falling down 16-33.

.
    Album Top20
And the first number one album in 2016 goes to... Rachel Platten! The singer-songwriter already released some stuff over the last few years, but never break through until the release of „Fight Song“ last year, which became a top hit in the UK and collected several Top10 peaks all over the world, including in the US and Australia. On the first friday of the year, which happened to be the first day of the year, she released the studio album „Wildfire“ which contains that hit and the current single „Stand By You“, and debuts at #1 now. It’s already her second charts entry on my album charts as the four-track „Fight Song“ EP stayed on the Album Top20 for four weeks with a #8 peak last year.

Grimes seems to be the unlucky one, as her album „Art Angels“ just misses to get the top spot due to Rachel’s sudden success, but the album still gets a new peak as it rises 4-2 in its fourth week on the charts. Tarja’s „Ave Maria - En plein air“ dips 1-3 after two weeks on top, rounding up the Top3 this week. Selena Gomez’ „Revival“ climbs further as it’s up 8-4, followed by Ariana Grande’s „Christmas & Chill“ EP which is down 2-5. Her other christmas EP called „Christmas Kisses“ drops 3-10. Adele’s „25“ (5-6), Coldplay’s „A Head Full Of Dreams“ (6-7) and Jess Glynne’s „I Cry When I Laugh“ (9-8; a re-peak!) remain in the Top10. There’s one last entry in the upper half, and it’s a second new entry. Elle King recently debuted on the singles charts with her debut hit „Ex’s & Oh’s“, and now she also makes her very first appearance on my album charts as her debut album „Love Stuff“ comes in at #9.

The two christmas / winter albums „I decembertid“ by Malena Ernman and „That’s Christmas To Me“ by Pentatonix were still inside the Top10 a week ago, but fall out of the charts completely now, while some older and already successful albums like „All Our Yesterdays“ by Blackmore’s Night (14-17) and „Rebel Heart“ by Madonna (11-20) start to drop now. This gives some room for newer, not-so-successful albums. One of them is Anna Rossinelli’s „Takes Two To Tango“, which keeps on recovering (17-13). Troye Sivan’s „Blue Neighbourhood“ is also back up 20-18. Ellie Goulding has the biggest rise, as her most recent album „Delirium“ is back up 19-12 after its re-entry a week ago – and it’s getting certified with Gold this week.

I will have to do some listening before I can properly comment on your chart this week. I haven't yet checked out most of your new entries this week (or from last week). I'm currently sort of on a break from checking out new music. It's a similar pattern every year and some years I didn't start to actively look for new songs until March or April! But it should happen a lot sooner this year I think.

I'm surprised to see "Under ytan" at #2. To me this is just a boring cover of a rather boring well known (in Sweden) song from the '90s. But at the same time I think it's cool that you have a song in Swedish so high!

Great to see "Fight Song" return at #24. I guess this has something to do with the album release (which I haven't heard yet)? Also great in a way to see "Out of the Woods", it's the best song on the album even though it feels very old now and I haven't listened much to it since 2014.

Lovely #1 my dear! :)

Checking out Loreen's new song now :D
(I'm through it and it sounds heavy and interesting, but I guess I need more time for it... The cover is stunning, although it doesn't look like her :o)

A fried of mine who is usually not that much into mainstream pop said he LOVES "Ghost", so I'm giving it another chance :D
(Alright so I listened to it again and it starts to grow on me!)

I would live to regularly spin "Out Of The Woods" to check out whether I really like it, I'm just sooo lazy  I am using Spotify and I have all my tracks in a playlist, so if I download songs somewhere I always forget them because they are not part of my playlist  I've just remembered that I downloaded "Bad Blood" some time ago and it will probably debut on my chart this week
(Okay, so I've just found out that I can add downloaded files to my Spotify! I'll do it now with "Bad Blood" first )

Nice entry for "Stimme" :)

I've never been a big fan of "Fight Song", it sounds a bit too safe, pathetic and generic to me  HOWEVER, maybe when I'd randomly hear her new single, maybe I'll give the album a chance. It must have something if it's your #1 :D
Looks like I found my way home

31 (27) Ariana Grande – Focus
Chart Run: *1*-2-4-7-15-22-29-32-27-31- / 10w

I'm so happy to see that Focus debuted at #1 on your chart 10 weeks ago! :D. Shame it spent so little time in the top 10.

Oh can't wait to hear your opinion on some songs then! :)
I always appreciate your comments.

I had no idea that "Under ytan" is a cover, i thought it's an original song by Loreen  But i think it's a great song and it fits her very well. The second part - when the drums kicks in - is better than the first half though. There'll be another song in swedish on my charts soon as Anette Olzon, another fave of mine, will release two songs and one of them is in swedish.

Yes, that return is due to the album release, which is very strong by the way. It will climb even further this week, same for "Stand By You". It's not my favorite track on "1989" but definitely in the Top3, so i'm glad you like it too and also glad they actually released it as a proper single.

Glad you like Birdy's new track 8-)

Oh that doesn't sound too good. I thought you were a fan of hers?
I really hope she will finally release that damn second album in 2016...

That's great! She just announced that she will take part on the german ESC preselection with "Ghost", so fingers crossed she does well 8-)

So you never heard "Out Of The Woods" so far, or just didn't spin it for a very long time? It still sounds amazing IMO and i hope it will be a hit for her.
"Bad Blood" is great, also one of my favorite tracks on the album (the album version though, not that remix).
"Stimme" will rise even further this week... thanks for that recommendation!

"Wildfire" is a really good pop album. The whole record may sound too safe for you though when you had this opinion about "Fight Song".

I think it's just too generic. I'm starting to love some of her 'more generic' songs now but that one is still far away from being a fave of mine. BUT when i was listening to it yesterday i thought it sounded better than i had it in my mind so it seems it's finally growing on me too :)

Not late music video effect... there wasn't a video when i posted the previous week, so that #6 is the full music video effect
Oh so i hope "Wildfire" grows a bit on you... i think it's already a first little highlight of 2016. And "Stand By You" will rise even further this week...

I hope so too, as he definitely deserves some success, even when "Youth" is not one of my favorite tracks of his debut album. It'll probably also follow "Talk Me Down"'s performance on my charts (low peak, but still quite a good longevity compared to other low-peaking singles).

"Love Stuff" is a solid album, glad she doesn't seem to be a one hit wonder as the album offers some other good songs! :)
Ellie will have another jump this week
It's 100 points for Gold and 200 points for Platinum when it comes to albums, and 250 points for Gold and 500 points for Platinum when it comes to singles. 300 / 750 points is 3xG, 400 / 1000 points is 2xP etc.
An album at #1 gets 20 points, a single at #1 gets 40 points, #2 gets 19 / 39 points and so on...

That's the easiest way for me. But i'm not always happy with that way as sometimes there are only a very few new releases and a #1 doesn't get played that much (and i doens't like it that much) when in another month (december for example) a #10 is already better than that #1... but as i said, it's the easiest way for me as including plays would be too much of work and LastFM doesn't work for me anyway...

I hope you like it when you check it out. It's not like her debut stuff and sounds a bit like something Florence + The Machine would do, but better (i'm not a fan of them   )

"Focus" is good, but nowhere near as good as her singles on "My Everything". But it still sounds good and will rebound a bit this week

thanks so much for all comments

week 02/2016 – 14 januar 2016 Rachel makes the double

Image
    Singles Top40
Rachel makes the double as „Stand By You“ makes a surprising jump to the top of the charts, up from #17 last week, giving her one of the biggest jump to the top ever. While compiling some sort of ‚midweek chart‘ on sunday, she was sitting at #5 which would have been still a great jump for her, but there’s currently no big hit out there and Rachel’s „Wildfire“ was on heavy rotation, which gave her the number one in the end. Australian hit maker Sia is the unlucky one, as her „Cheap Thrills“ nearly made a top debut, but has to settle down at #2. It’s still her highest appearance as a lead artist since „Clap Your Hands“ became a number one single back in 2010, and her highest appearance overall since „She Wolf“ by David Guetta debuted and peaked on top as well. Rounding up the Top3 is Birdy’s „Keeping Your Head Up“, the top hit from last week (1-3).

Sia is the only new entry in the Top10, but there are many more on the whole charts. UK newcomer Dua Lipa gets her very first entry with her breakthrough single „Be The One“, which enters the charts at #13. Fellow UK musician Rudimental get their very first entry on my charts with „Lay It All On Me“ (#18), which features Ed Sheeran. Foxes makes the upper half as well with her newest single „Amazing“. With its debut at #20, it enters the charts one position higher than „Body Talk“ (#21), but several places lower than the previous single „Better Love“ (#7). All three singles will be on her second album „All I Need“ which will be released next month.

German hitmaker Robin Schulz seems to have another hit on his hands with „Show Me Love“, which is currently at #2 in Germany and enters my charts at #23. Another DJ, and another hitmaker is only two positions below with David Guetta and his newest single „Bang My Head“. The song was already on his album „Listen“ which was released over a year ago and features Sia, but got released as a remix featuring Fetty Wap now. Banks, who had a pretty successful debut era back in 2014, is also back on the charts with a new song called „Better“ (#28). It’s not over yet! X Ambassadors’ „Renegades“ is slowly becoming a big hit over here in Switzerland, and now makes its first appearance on my charts as well at #34. And last but not least, Major Lazer gets a third entry from their album „Pease Is A Mission“, as the new single „Light It Up“ debuts at #38. Similar to David Guetta’s new single, „Light It Up“ got a new remix as well which got released as a single instead of the original album version.

Elsewhere in the Top10, Ellie Goulding gets a new peak with „Army“ (8-4), followed by Loreen’s „Under ytan“ which is down 2-5. Selena Gomez‘ „Same Old Love“ keeps on climbing back up the charts (9-6), being higher than the current single „Hands To Myself“ now (5-9). Taylor Swift slips 6-7 with „Out Of The Woods“, „Ghost“ by Jamie-Lee Kriewitz drops 3-8 and Isabel Ment closes the Top10 with „In Reverse“ (4-10).

Lindsey Stirling’s „Hallelujah“ leaves the Top10 after four weeks (7-12). Her third album is likely to be released later this year, so she may have another hit soon. The german formation EFF with „Stimme“ (26-14) and Rachel Platten with „Fight Song“ (24-17) climb into the upper half of the charts, while several songs leave that part of the charts. One of them is „Sorry“ by Justin Bieber, which falls 16-21 after eleven consecutive weeks in the Top20. The last thing worth a mention is something about Ariana Grande and her current single „Focus“. The song climbs a few spots this week (31-26), but the bigger news is its new gold certification, making „Focus“ her tenth certified single!

Rachel Platten’s new top hit „Stand By You“ is the biggest climber, while Ariana Grande’s „Love Is Everything“ drops 19-37 as the biggest loser this week.

.
    Album Top20
Rachel Platten stays on top of the Album Top20 with her major label debut „Wildfire“, which doesn’t come as a big surprise as her current single „Stand By You“ shoots up to the top of the Singles Top40 as well. But the most important entry goes to David Bowie. The music legend just released his newest album „Blackstar“ on friday, but he died this monday. I already wanted to check out his work on friday, but didn’t have time for it, so i did it on monday… and now he makes his very first appearance ever on my charts at #2. Closing the Top3 is Ellie Goulding, who gets a big climb with „Delirium“ back into the Top3 (12-3).

Grimes‘ „Art Angels“ is back down 2-4, followed by Selena Gomez who slips 4-5 with „Revival“. Jess Glynne gets a new peak with her debut album „I Cry When I Laugh“, as the record improves 8-6. Tarja’s „Ave Maria“ drops 3-7, Adele’s „25“ is down 6-9 and Elle King gets a second week in the Top10 with „Love Stuff“ (9-10). There’s one last album in the Top10 this week and it’s a second new entry. Chris Brown recently released his newest album „Royalty“. After two #2-peaking albums, his newest set debuts at #8 as a kinda disappointing debut.

Coldplay’s „A Head Full Of Dreams“ leaves the Top10 after five week as it’s going down 7-11. It’s already their best charting album on my charts, outdoing the previous two „Ghost Stories“ and „Mylo Xyloto“. It’s probably no surprise to see Ariana Grande falling a few spots with „Christmas & Chill“ EP, but the christmas release is actually still holding on well despite christmas being over for some time now (5-14). There’s also a re-entry on the charts as Taylor Swift is back at #18 with „1989“.

I like all these!

Awesome to see Stand By You's massive climb to Number 1! I think I actually prefer it to Fight Song now and is therefore probably the best song on the album. Weird because at first I thought it was pretty good but like 1 month ago it totally grew on me.

Nice entry for the Dua Lipa song. I always thought this was gonna blow up this year so hopefully i'm right. But I thought it would be big by now :-?

Great taste Tansike!
I also love Stand By You, although it's not a favorite, it starts out very nice then too repetitive..but nice song!

Have you listened to Speechless and congratulations? Speechless is soooo addicting (to me) haha
