The Doors / London Fog 1966 box set
http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/ ... ore-127201

Rhino will issue London Fog 1966 in December, a new archival Doors box set that features unearthed audio recorded at the LA club of the same name.

All tracks are previously unreleased and not even known to exist until recently and marks the earliest recordings of the band, finding the quartet mixing blues covers with early versions of Doors originals (Strange Days and You Make Me Real).

This London Fog 1966 set contains a CD and a ten-inch vinyl record (made to look like a test pressing) and is presented in a lift-top box package designed to look like a vintage storage box. Doors engineer Bruce Botnick recently mastered the audio for this collection.

In addition to the music, this box comes with packed with replica memorabilia including a poster, the set list handwritten by John Densmore, a program for the Royce Hall UCLA student film screening, plus a London Fog coaster. Liner notes include thoughts from Nettie Peña, someone who was not only at the London Fog show, but actually captured the audio on a ¼” reel-to-reel recorder (borrowed from her father who was a teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District). Five black and white 8″ x 10″ re-prints of Peña’s unpublished photos of the band taken on that evening are included in this collector’s set.

London Fog 1966 is a numbered, ‘limited edition’ of 18,000. This set is the first of many ‘special activities and releases’ coming to celebrate The Doors’ 50th anniversary in 2017. London Fog 1966 will be released on 9 December 2016.

Soundscan Surprises 4/6: Top 200 Catalog Album Sales
by Silvia Killingsworth

Back-catalog sales numbers of note from Nielsen SoundScan.

The definition of “back catalog” is: “at least 18 months old, have fallen below №100 on the Billboard 200 and do not have an active single on our radio.”
Fleetwood Mac’s last recorded album together turns 30 tomorrow. Country star Sam Hunt is enjoying that they call a “crossover hit” with a song called, um, “Body Like A Back Road” (driving with my eyes closed, I know every curve like the back of my hand).

The death metal band Death’s fourth studio album, Human, was reissued on the same day as the Doors deluxe reissue. Guess which one has sold more copies since then! I’m assuming Lana Del Rey is on the rise because she’s got an album on the way. Dr. Hook’s Greatest Hooks is a compilation album that was released in 2007, so that makes it ten years old.

2. FLEETWOOD MAC TANGO IN THE NIGHT 4,213 copies
4. HUNT*SAM MONTEVALLO 4,000 copies
28. DEATH HUMAN 1,915 copies
60. DOORS*THE THE DOORS (DELUXE EDITION) 1,531 copies
122. DEL REY*LANA BORN TO DIE 1,179 copies

Classic artists Neil Young, The Doors, Rush, Santana and David Bowie topped the list of Record Store Day exclusive album sales in Canada, but it was reunited Canadian screamo act Alexisonfire that had the No. 1 selling release on April 22, according to Canadian figures provided to Billboard by Nielsen Music.

Alexisonfire’s Crisis was followed by Young’s Decade, The Doors’ Live at the Matrix ’67, Coheed & Cambria’s Good Apollo I’m Burning Star IV, Rush’s Cygnus X-1, Santana’s Live at the Woodstock Music & Art Fair, Bowie’s Cracked Actor, the Space Jam soundtrack, Notorious B.I.G.’s Born Again, and, at No. 10 Claypool Lennon’s Lime and Limpid.

Rhino will release The Singles, a new compilation that collects all 20 U.S. singles released by The Doors, and their corresponding B-sides. It will be available as a 2CD+blu-ray package, a 2CD set without the blu-ray and a seven-inch box set will also be made available.

The 44-track collection includes the rare, original single versions of such classics as, Love Me Two Times, Love Her Madly, Riders On The Storm and many more. With collectors in mind, the CDs will also feature four original mono radio versions of some of the hits. These have never been made available anywhere after being sent to radio stations at the time of their original release.

All tracks have been mastered from the original analog single masters by the band’s longtime engineer Bruce Botnick.

The Blu-ray disc that accompanies the ‘deluxe’ three-disc version features the original hi-res Quadraphonic mix of 1973 compilation The Best Of The Doors. This 11-song compilation was issued on SACD by Audio Fidelity in 2015, but this is the first time it has been available on Blu-ray audio.
In addition to the above, a 20-disc seven-inch box set of The Singles (‘limited’ to 10,000 copies) is being issued and can be ordered via the band’s official store although this will be available via other channels too

The Doors Isle of Wight 1970 Show Out in Feb.
http://bestclassicbands.com/doors-isle- ... -12-14-17/

The last concert by The Doors ever filmed will be available for the first time on Feb. 23 as The Doors: Live at the Isle of Wight 1970, on DVD+CD, Blu-ray+CD and Digital Video. The film is being released by Eagle Rock Entertainment.

The last known unseen performance of the Doors in existence, The Doors: Live at the Isle of Wight 1970 has been completely recut and remixed from the original film footage. Fully approved by the Doors, this previously unreleased concert was restored via the latest 21st century technology, color correcting and visually upgrading the original footage. The entire concert, which is now presented in 5.1 Dolby Digital sound, was mixed from the original multi-track audio by longtime Doors engineer/mixer/co-producer Bruce Botnick. Fans may have caught a glimpse of this performance in the 1997 Isle of Wight film Message To Love, however this DVD presents the Doors’ set with the full-length songs in maximum visual and sound quality.

The film captures the band’s performance, as well as offering a snapshot of the era, with footage of fans (over 600,000 in attendance) tearing down barriers and crashing the gates to gain access to the event.

The Doors hit the stage at 2:00 a.m. on Aug. 30, 1970. In this 84-minute DVD, Jim Morrison, organist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore perform such Doors staples as “Roadhouse Blues,” “Break On Through (To the Other Side)” and “Light My Fire.”

The DVD is completed with a bonus featurette, “This Is The End,” 17 minutes of interviews conducted by the film’s original director, Murray Lerner, with Krieger, Densmore and original Doors manager Bill Siddons. Additional archival interview footage with Manzarek from 2002 is also included in the featurette.

The Doors: Live at the Isle of Wight 1970 Track Listing

1. Roadhouse Blues
2. Backdoor Man
3. Break on Through (To The Other Side)
4. When The Music’s Over
5. Ship of Fools
6. Light My Fire
7. The End (medley): Across The Sea/Away in India/Crossroads Blues/Wake Up
