How many copies does an album have to sell to go platinum in Spain? Has that level for platinum always been the same since 1979?davidalic wrote:Spain began to give certifications in 1979, not before. So Richard Clayderman was the first multiplatinum album in that same year.
Of course it´s possible; there have been many albums that have not been certified and have sold 200.000 or 300.000Is it possible some albums may have not been certified for platinum or multi-platinum awards yet even though the album has sold enough copies for the certification?
200-600k for "Thriller"?davidalic wrote:Until november 2005: 1PL=100.000
Now 1PL=80.000Of course it´s possible; there have been many albums that have not been certified and have sold 200.000 or 300.000Is it possible some albums may have not been certified for platinum or multi-platinum awards yet even though the album has sold enough copies for the certification?
One example is "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. It must have sold over 200k, or 600k as people say, and there´s no certification.
However, album sales during the first half of the 80s weren´t too high

Great job you've done ! Go on that way !!!
Could you print the complete list of gold, platinum and multi-platinum singles in Spain ?
Muchos gracias,
Abacab !!!
It doesn´t appear in the book; maybe the record company didn´t want to buy the certification; however it must have sold a lot as it spent many weeks at #1.Thriller (single) is said to be the biggest selling single ever in Spain with Desireless, where is it ?
Alejandro Sanz has 74 Platinums in Spain; he started his music career in 1991 and every album has been a huge hit. I guess he sang with Shakira in order to be known in Europe and other territories. Maybe he will sing in English some daypotojr wrote:So, Alejandro Sanz sold over 7 mil. albums in Spain (I counted 69 times platinum and stopped at the albums who managed 4P). I thought Shakira sang with him on "Tortura" to give his career a push-start, never thought he'd already been massively popular...
Has he released anything outside of Spain / Latin America? I don't recall seeing him in other charts (definitely not in the UK).
I don´t know how much sold "Thriller", maybe close to the million copies.HUR wrote:Hello, I read in a page that "Thriller" had sold 1,8 M in Spain, can it be?. Another great succes there was Queen Greatest hits 2 in 1992.
Yes, thank you, but as you must know real sales af an album are ussually higher than certifications.davidalic wrote:I don´t know how much sold "Thriller", maybe close to the million copies.HUR wrote:Hello, I read in a page that "Thriller" had sold 1,8 M in Spain, can it be?. The Queen´s greatest hits is on the list, with 5 platinums.
I don´t understand very well your question, but here are the peaks for their albums in Spain:HUR wrote:Yes, thank you, but as you must know real sales af an album are ussually higher than certifications.davidalic wrote:I don´t know how much sold "Thriller", maybe close to the million copies.HUR wrote:Hello, I read in a page that "Thriller" had sold 1,8 M in Spain, can it be?. Do you have number one album of Queen in Spain?. Sorry for the question, but I don´t know that information.
MJDangerous, the book that davidalic uses (and that I have got too) is FULL of mistakes.MJDangerous wrote:Thriller (single) is said to be the biggest selling single ever in Spain with Desireless, where is it ?

1,8 M seems too high, but nobody knows how much has sold in Spain. Probably, with "Más" (26 weeks at #1 and 108 on chart), has the best chart run ever.Euterpe wrote:HUR wrote:Hello, I read in a page that "Thriller" had sold 1,8 M in Spain, can it be?.this is not truth
