Instinct wrote:Happy anniversary! Criminal was a solid Top 20 hit in some countries. It peaked at #13 in France (and actually outsold Hold It Against Me there) while scoring a solid #16 peak in Canada. Additionally, it peaked at #11 in Finland and made the Top 10 in some smaller markets like Czech Republic, Israel, Slovakia, Ukraine, Lebanon, etc. The video also gets better recurrent views than the other FF singles (yes, even TTWE) and it should reach 100 million views next year.
Another fun fact is that "Criminal" already surpassed "Hold it against me" on Spotify.

"Womanizer" was released 9 years ago today!

Image

"Womanizer" is a song recorded by American singer Britney Spears for her sixth studio album, Circus (2008). It was released on October 3, 2008 by Jive Records as the lead single of the album. Produced and co-written by Nikesha Briscoe and Rafael Akinyemi of The Outsyders, the song was re-recorded after a snippet was leaked onto the internet. "Womanizer" is an up-tempo electropop and dance-pop song. Described by Spears as a girl anthem, the song's lyrics recall a womanizing man, while the protagonist of the song makes clear she knows who he really is. Music critics mostly praised its hook, melody and empowering lyrics. Critics also observed it was a stand-out track from its album and also deemed it as a comeback single for Spears.
"Womanizer" was a huge, career defining hit for Britney and it'll go down as the song that marked her comeback 8-)

-Topped the French singles chart for 5 consecutive weeks
-Topped the Canadian singles chart for 5 consecutive weeks
-Reached the Top 10 in every country it charted (25 countries)
-Topped the charts in 11 countries
-7th biggest European hit of 2009

-Britney's best-selling digital song in the USA
-Britney's 5th biggest hit in the UK (450,000 pure sales)
-7,300,000+ copies sold worldwide
-Won "Best Pop Video" at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards
-Won "Video Of The Year" at the NRJ Music Awards
-Nominated for "Best Dance Recording" at the 2010 Grammy Awards
Peaked at #1 in USA, Belgium (Flanders), Canada, Denmark, Europe, Finland, France, Israel, Norway, Poland, Turkey, Sweden
Peaked at #2 in Belgium (Wallonia), Hungary, Ireland, Switzerland
Peaked at #3 in Scotland, UK
Peaked at #4 in Austria, Germany
Peaked at #5 in Australia
Peaked at #6 in Czech Republic

The song has been covered by a number of artists from different genres, including Lily Allen, Franz Ferdinand, All-American Rejects, Raye, and Girls Aloud

"Womanizer" is expected to reach 200 million views in a few months. Happy 9th anniversary to this amazing pop song that marked Britney's comeback!

I'm loving all of these anniversaries 8-)

"Womanizer" was such a comeback and thriumphant single after the tragic and worrying 2007 year, it was simply beautiful seeing her getting her very first #1 US hit in a decade, she was back on top with a massive global smash hit, with great peaks, great chart runs (5 weeks at #1 in France), great sales, great airplay, popular music video, revamped image. Great memories.

"Womanizer" was huge with pure sales over 7,3million according to MJD (from chartmasters).

Just a technical and random question - Christmas is coming up "soon" and I was wondering if the audio version of "My only wish" on her official Youtube channel also counts for the Billboard Top 100? :D Looking forward the song will have some new peaks in some countries this year :)

Yes, it does count. But the song does way better on Spotify than on VEVO. It's currently at 35 million plays which is more than Hold It Against Me, I'm A Slave 4 U, Stronger, Lucky, Slumber Party, Crazy, etc. It'll reach 50 million plays this year.

Last year it charted in Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands. And it has sold more than 53k units in the UK as of March 2017 so it'll get certified Silver eventually. :P Hopefully it'll re-peak everywhere this year. It went as high as #9 in Germany in 2015 (Spotify).

^ Cool, so basically Britney has been the 4th most prominent female artist on Pop Radio from the last 25 years! Not bad at all ... And I bet she would be even higher if her post-2013 career had been better.

The residency should end up with around $135 million, give or take a couple of millions. If she could somehow get closer to $140 million that would be great.

I only counted 56.5 million from Youtube official music vídeo and 80.8 million from Spotify (September 5, 2017) = 137.3 million. So, you're right.

But other singles like Pretty Girls, Hold It Against Me, Till the World Ends, Criminal, Work Bitch might be a little higher too.
