So my early prediction was on point. 8-)

Hope she gets as near as possible to 2 millions. 8-)

Another slam dunk debut, folks. A new radio single could keep this selling, too. As will a tour bundle and more promo.

Billboard reported yet again her label Big Machine is on the hunt for that eye popping 2 millions mark. :o

Swift is employing a new bag of tricks this time to prime the sales pumps, from a UPS promotion to a deal with Target that guarantees her more in-store display space than ever. Instead of radio, she has relied on Ticketmaster's Verified Fan program to incentivize fans to purchase albums and merchandise, or complete social media "boosts," which increase their chances of getting tickets to her yet-to-be-announced tour. By Nov. 3, pre-orders had passed 400,000 copies, and Target claimed it as the retail giant's biggest entertainment pre-order ever.

"She's never one to be complacent or do things that have been done before," says Tom Poleman, chief programming officer at iHeartMedia.

Unlike other things that wither, she preserves. She’s a constant in a world of relentless flux. She’s a beacon of immortality. Bitch, she’s Madonna.

If she debuts with 1,500,000+, anything less than 150,000 in the second week will be a record breaker.

If she liberates the album for streaming in its second week I can't see a big drop at all.

Apparently this is RUMORED to be the fastest album to ever hit #1 on iTunes - 6 minutes. 8-)

Agreed.

Though in principle, that would involve pre-orders.

Also, 800,000 in one hour and then “just” a few hundred thousand in the rest of the week?

If she can top 1989's first week sales, it's safe enough to say that the album is successful. Nobody else has ever topped 1 million this many times, and to push the sales envelope every single time, it's just amazing.

Nobody else has ever manipulated a first week like this either though.

Not criticising but would like to keep things in context.

On the other hand she gave up streaming numbers or allowing tracks to chart separately and I guess that's why these numbers look so shocking.
