Nobody else has ever manipulated a first week like this either though.
How is she manipulating her first week sales?

I think manipulation is a trigger word, lol. I mean, Wayne is right, it is manipulation because she's not just releasing her album in a standard way to fend for itself. But the way I see it, in today's biz, you gotta do the most to make a big splash, and that's exactly what she's doing. It takes a lot of effort for a younger-skewing pop girl these days. And when you've already got a million in the bag on fanbase alone, why not pull out all the stops to get your album in as many hands/ears as possible? She's clearly put a lot of work into the album, and the planning and promotion. And I've gotta hand it to her, she's KILLING IT, once again.

Anyway, I wish I had went with 2m. Rats.

There are several tricks and tools to keep this album selling largely in the weeks to come. After seeing the album-only approach they took, which I didn't see coming, I can only imagine what's to come. You don't do all this planning and not think about weeks 2 and 3 and beyond.

I think this will perform really well through the holidays, especially in its first month.

True and her albums history say she stands the test of time. "REPUTATION" doesn't look to be different. I'm still appalled by the numbers especially because it's the FOURTH time she's doing it.

reputation (Big Machine/BMLG) will land somewhere in the range of 1.3-1.5m on next week’s chart, almost certainly besting her previous album, 2014’s 1989, by at least 100k. This will be Tay’s fourth album in a row to debut with more than 1 million in first week sales, with each of those albums selling more than the one before. Of course, these very preliminary reads precede her Saturday Night Live appearance and a possible tour announcement—and whatever other moves she may have in store for D2C, TV, radio, etc. Stay tuned for one-day projections.

Oh my god she did it again! Just like with the previous million openers I think many of us were skeptical she could do it again, but she damn if she didn't put any doubts to rest that she is far and away the #1 pop star. Even if she did have poor longevity with this album, with an opening like that she's on track for an easy 3 million in the US, possibly 4 or 5 if some of the future singles catch on.

Wait, I've been out of the game for a bit - the album is not available on streaming services? So these figures are without streaming "sales"?

Well, album sales + SEAs/TEAs for the four singles (because only the singles are available as individual download)

Right of course, that's what I meant. Thanks!

And I assume that track sales will be low or even negative due tot 'complete my album'.

Hmm ... that leads me to the question: Did an album ever have negative TEAs because of CMA?

So maybe 2m worldwide? I'm asking because I'm not sure what her last one debuted with internationally.

We believe Taylor Swift’s reputation will land somewhere in this range on next week’s chart:

Taylor Swift (Big Machine/BMLG) 1.4-1.5m SPS, 1.37-1.47m album

Oh, ok thanks. Maybe she can do 1.75 but probably not 2m then.

according to HDD
Her UPS sales count as 1
(1 physical + 3 links to Zip folder)
so those 3 zip doesn't count at all
so shes not manipulating the sales

1989 did 394k so it can do the same or at least 350k
1.8m+ is likely

Taylor Swift’s Reputation is off to a red-hot start. The album sold around 700,000 copies in the U.S. on its first day of release, according to initial sales reports to Nielsen Music.

The set was released at 12 a.m. ET on Nov. 10, through Big Machine Records. Its first day sales figure could grow larger, after all of Nielsen’s retail reporters have submitted their sales for the day.

If the album keeps up that sizzling sales pace, it could sell over 1 million copies in the tracking week ending Nov. 16. Further, according to industry sources, it is on track to earn Swift her largest sales week yet. Its debut week could surpass the debut frame of her last album, 2014’s 1989, which bowed with 1.29 million copies sold in its first week, according to Nielsen Music.

700k first day sales at least disproves that nonsense 800k first hour figure.

I'm still surprised they're easily projecting it to beat 1989's first week.

1989 had 200K preorders, Reputation had 400K preorders.

1989 first day sales: 600,000 - 200k preorders = 400,000 first day
Reputation first day sales: 700,000 - 400k preorders = 300,000 first day

LWYMMD also fell pretty hard after the first day of sales.
