'Bon Appetit' has such tight production, absolutely love it, but for me there's something about the song that just misses the mark for me.

17. Sia – Move Your Body
Forgettable song - Sia can be so much better then this tbh.

14. Katy Perry feat. Skip Marley – Chained To The Rhythm
One of Katy's finest points in her career. Such a perfect pop song that deserved to smash harder then what Dark Horse ever was. :D
12. Katy Perry feat. Migos – Bon Appétit

Well, maybe it's because it doesn't really take off until it's nearly finish? I still love it though :)

Ouch. A shame you didn't like "Move Your Body", it's one of Sia's best for me :o And i need to say that i'm one of the ones who already enjoyed her before her breakthrough with "Titanium" & Co.

Glad you like "Chained To The Rhythm", definitely a pop smash.
As for "Bon Appétit", i really enjoy this more than "Chained" these days ...

10. Marina Kaye – On My Own
Image
Chartrun: 8-*5*-6-5-8-10-8-11-15-23-27-32-Out-RE 22-24-31-26-31-Out / 17w
Certification: PLATINUM

Marina Kaye opens the Top10 with “On My Own”, the lead single to her second album “Explicit”. Marina Kaye is a singer from France and since her breakthrough with “Homeless” in 2015 I’m always very excited for new stuff, as she’s really delivering. Her voice is really strong for a just 19 years old singer, and the music in general is very modern yet not generic and basic. “On My Own” was perfect for a lead track, as it’s similar to the stuff on her debut “Fearless”, but still something new and not just an attempt to re-create the success of “Homeless”.

With peaking at #5 on the weekly chart, this is the only song in the Top10 of the Year-End Charts 2017 that didn’t peak inside the weekly Top3. With 17 weeks on the chart in total, it’s tied with five other songs as the seventh longest charting track of 2017. “On My Own” is Marina’s third most successful entry on my charts to date, and also her third & final appearance on the 2017 countdown, following “Merci quand même” (#96) and “Something” (#18).

9. The Dark Element (Anette Olzon & Jani Liimatainen) – My Sweet Mystery
Image
Chartrun: *1*-1-2-3-4-9-12-9-10-12-20-23-21- / 13w
Certification: PLATINUM

A Year-End Charts by me without a symphonic metal/rock entry in the Top10 isn’t a typical countdown, so there’s obviously one of those in this countdown as well, and it’s “My Sweet Mystery” by The Dark Element. The Dark Element is a project by Swedish singer & former Nightwish frontwoman Anette Olzon and Finnish producer, songwriter & musician Jani Liimatainen. Following her departure of Nightwish, Anette smashed by weekly chart with her solo debut album “Shine”, which is currently the most successful album ever when it comes to my charts, so I was really looking forward to this project, and with “My Sweet Mystery” they definitely delivered what I was hoping for. A symphonic rock track at its best: incredibly catchy, great vocals, great guitar riffs, a poppy melody and a dancing Anette in the video. The only negative thing would be the lyrics, which are really cheesy at some points.

“My Sweet Mystery” ties another song as the shortest charting track in the Top10 of this countdown. It’s the most successful release for this project, and the third most successful single by Anette so far. The Dark Element had another three entries on the Year-End Charts 2017 with “The Ghost And The Reaper” (#62), “The Dark Element” (#39) and “Dead To Me” (#30) – only one artist got even more entries.

Attention: The audio quality of the video is pretty shitty. Try Spotify, Apple Music or another streaming/download service out if you’d like to check out a good version.

8. Halsey – Now Or Never
Image
Chartrun: 7-*3*-3-8-17-36-Out-RE 9-15-11-13-14-13-18-27-29-31-34-Out-RE 37- / 18w
Certification: PLATINUM

And there goes another poll option, as “Now Or Never” is the second and final appearance for Halsey. I’m following Halsey since the release of her debut album “Badlands”, and while I always thought she’s very unsympathetic, I still enjoyed “Badlands” more than I was expecting but without being blown away. And while i wasn't blown away, I still was so looking forward to her newest release, and with “Now Or Never”, she has released a little gem last year. The song may be simple, but there’s something about it which really got me. Funny thing is that I never really liked Rihanna’s “Needed Me”, which is clearly an inspiration behind “Now Or Never”. And with this release and the album "hopeless fountain kingdom", Halsey rose to one of my most favorite artists these days.

“Now Or Never” is not only Halsey’s highest peaking track, but also her most successful song by far when it comes to my weekly chart. Her only other appearance on the countdown was “Bad At Love” (#78).

Oh you did it with Katy too, pipped the best song of the era with another lol

I'm here for Chained, I low key like Bon Appetite but it's a bit throwaway for me and totally against her purposeful pop era to turn around and release a song about her vajayjay

Good to see someone else chart Only You, I know I charted a remix but I like the original also.

Haha... well, "Chained" is not much lower than "Bon Appétit", so there's that. And i think "Chained" is strong too, BA just sticked with me for a longer period.

Glad you enjoy "Only You". There were some great remixes for this, but the original always remained my favorite one :)

14. Katy Perry feat. Skip Marley – Chained To The Rhythm

As for the top 10: Halsey's song is nice, but 'Bad At Love' is far superior imo.

Thanks for coming by & catching up :D

Yeah, "Yodel It!" is really catchy and i can see why it was so successful on the contest.

"Origo" is good and i really enjoyed his performance, however, it's not a song i would listen often by myself, which is why it's not higher on my countdown.

Aw, so i guess you didn't like the live Performance for "Skeleton"? I thought it was a highlight of the contest.

Agree about "John Wayne", and YESSS that line on "Instruction" is its highlight 8-)

Haha yeah "The Cure" is a bit basic but in a good way i'd say.

Feeling similar to you on "Feels". Never been a big fan of Calvin but this is an undeniable bop 8-)

Thanks for checking this out (again)! :D Yeah, it was a big success on my weekly chart, so maybe you already checked it out when you saw it there. It's a great pop song, a shame she's not more successful and known...

People who are following my weekly chart know that there are several things which MUST get a hit, otherwise it’s not a chart by me. These things are symphonic metal (check!), a violinist or something with a violin on it, Kerli and Selena Gomez. It has yet to be revealed if all these things also got a big enough hit in 2017 to appear in the Top10, however, Selena was able to do it with this brilliant tune. “Bad Liar” is by far Selena’s most artistic release to date. It’s still unsure if this song will be for her third solo album or if it’s just a stand alone track, but from all of her 2017 releases, this is by far her best work. What sold the song to me was its brilliant video, where Selena plays several roles.

Following “It Ain’t Me” with Kygo (#86), “Wolves” with Marshmello (#61) and “Fetish” featuring Gucci Mane (#53), “Bad Liar” is her fourth and final entry on my countdown – which means another poll option is gone! And while this was a big success for her and on this years countdown, she was able to collect 11 more successful entries on my weekly chart since her musical breakthrough in late 2009!

Certification: PLATINUM

If someone would have told me that Miley Cyrus’ comeback wouldn’t be that successful and that her little sister will get a huge smash in 2017, I most likely would have laughed out loud, but yep, that’s what happened in the end. Noah Cyrus caught me by surprise with the release of “Again”, a quite dark midtempo song, which features the scandalous XXXTENTACION.

While it’s the only entry ever for XXXTENTACTION on my chart (and hopefully already the last), Noah Cyrus collected another four, but none of them made the countdown. The singles “Stay Together” (#373), “All Falls Down” with Alan Walker & Digital Farm Animals (#187) and “I’m Stuck” (#121) all appeared on the bubbling under list. “Again” is therefor Noah’s most successful song on my chart by far, obviously, and together with The Dark Element’s “My Sweet Mystery” (#9) the shortest charting track in this years Top10 when it comes to the run on the weekly chart.

Since her breakthrough in early 2013 with her self-titled debut album and the hit "Crystallize", Lindsey Stirling turned from an unknown YouTube sensation to a big star, and someone who easily collects hits on my personal chart. The violinist is known for breaking borders, as she combines her violin play with various other genres, such as dubstep, dance, pop, country or folk. Since her second album she's also having some singers featured, but the instrumental songs always remain the ones with the most magic around them, just like "Lost Girls".

"Lost Girls" is the opening track to her third studio album "Brave Enough", which already came out in mid 2016. Since the first time i've heard this song, it's not only my favorite one on the album, but one of her best ones ever. It's truly magical. It's build up is so well done, with the first verse being very calm, nearly quiet, and you can concentrate on her violin play. Then, she sings two simple lines, with the chorus smashing in right after. But the absolute best about this song is the small but effective beat on the second verse.

The track was chosen to be the sixth single of the album, and Lindsey released its stunning video in mid 2017. After that, it was an obvious number one hit on my weekly chart, and continued to show some nice longevity. Unfortunately, i already played it a lot between the album release and its video release, so it would have done even better on my charts if it would have been released earlier.

"Lost Girls" is Lindsey's sixth and final appearance on the Year-End Charts Top100, with another eight entries being below the Top100, making her the artist with most chart entries in 2017.

''Lost Girls'' is almost ethereal at times. Music video is also rad.
