The Telegraph gives a bit more:

Dale Winton, the TV presenter, has died aged 62, his agent reveals

Dale Winton, the TV presenter, has died at the age of 62, the star's agent said this evening.

Winton was best known for presenting the shows including Dale's Supermarket sweep from 1993 until 2000 and again in 2007, and the National Lottery game show In It to Win It.

He died at his home earlier on Wednesday. His long-term agent Jan Kennedy said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that we can confirm the passing of Dale Winton who died at home earlier today.

"While we know many will share this terrible loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time of grief."

No further details were announced.

He presented something for Channel 5 earlier this year, I remember watching it (he visited Florida) - was a really good show.

He looked good, so this is really surprising.

Here he is, giving a very candid account of his depression less than 2 years ago and explaining why he withdrew from TV:

He was the king of ‘pulling a sicky from school’ morning TV. Supermarket Sweep is iconic TV that’s actually making a comeback… sadly we now know he won’t be involved.

62 is pretty young too. I wonder what the cause is.

Lots of tributes saying how warm and fun he was, that always came across on screen too. Poor man, he had a difficult youth - his dad died on the day of his bar mitzvah and his mum committed suicide when was 21.

Doesn't surprise me to hear people say what a nice man he was, will miss him on TV, was hoping he would present the new Supermarket Sweep shows

Barbara Windsor helped him through his grief at losing his parents so young I believe, RIP Dale 62 is no age

I do remember him in Touch The Truck and Never Mind The Buzzcocks (as a guest host), such a light-hearted and camp personality
