 Yeah, that one did wear off me pretty quickly  but competition has been especially stiff lately with Mariah, Rita, and The 1975 all dropping enjoyable albums in rapid succession. I still think it's a lot of fun, with some highly-quotable/memorable lines ("oh my god, I'm such a sucker, I fall in love, with every f**ker..."), and it deserved SO much more on the UK chart. If "I Don't Care" could make it all the way to the top, this was surely at least Top 10-worthy...

Mainshow wrote:That said, I am glad to see "Headlights" rise and the new entry for "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart" ain't bad either even though the song deserves to be #1 everywhere :D What a tune!
"Headlights" is adorable, and I totally owe Akini's chart for alerting me to its release! Speaking of Akini - he, Jake, Tansike, and you (among others, I imagine) all seem really sold on "Nothing Breaks...", but I'm not feeling it as much myself  It's alright, but a lot of people have been instantly hooked, and I'm just not getting that. Still, I'm all for Miley scoring another hit on official charts after the injustice that the Younger Now era faced.

Thanks again, Mainshow! :D

I actually really like the 1975, but they always seem to just miss on charting. I'm going to make a concentrated effort to give them some more play time once the holidays are over. I like your #1 quite a bit.

You have a lot of re-entries this week. Is it because you are prepping your year-end? :) Particularly pleased to see Haylety Kiyoko. Kacey Musgraves, and Troye. And Sia's Puppies - yay at a seasonal song breaking through - I've been playing this one a little because it makes me think of my own sweet puppy.

Nice to see that you're enjoying the Cheat Codes & Kim Petras song. It was my #1 last week and like you is sitting at #2 this week on my charts.
Have you heard Allie X's new Christmas song?

phoenix98 wrote:Hey there, stud! NoOoOo worries, but it's very sweet of you to apologize <3 I'm not exactly the most consistent/reliable poster myself (I completely fell off the wagon with our messaging  Granted, I figure we're more-or-less accomplishing the same thing here now), so I never want you to feel bad about missing a chart or two (three, though...) ;)

The modesty  If only every workplace had a similarly dedicated group of individuals to champion such causes!

Speaking of your good team, have you managed to recruit/convince enough individuals from the departments (like Human Resources, I imagine) that can really implement (and enforce) these changes? The objective does seem so simple (creating a safer, happier, healthier workplace, thus leading to greater productivity/output - sounds like an obvious win-win to me), yet people have SUCH a hard time putting their damn prejudices aside (fighting for their "right" to tell sexist/homophobic/etc. jokes at work, dismissing any attempt at increasing empathy as oppressive "PC culture," etc) Bless you for fighting the good fight, sir!

100% YES! Well, except for "Never Ever" I had to Google that one. Apparently it was a Top 5 Hot 100 hit, but I'm still inclined to replace it with something like "C'est La Vie" or "Barbie Girl." ;)

Well, only one way to find out ;) (Though I virtually guarantee it...)

Phew! Shame on me for being so cynical and leaping to assume he's all snobbish/condescending about it  The fact that he's a big jazz fan is pretty interesting! Has he taken (dragged) you to any jazz clubs/live performances?

Fabulous! Yeah, I imagine/envision all of her concerts to be life-affirming events. Such beauty, such talent, such strength.

Same! FAR-and-away the standout of the new Halcyon Days additions for me too. On paper, I really should've been more into HD's poppier/dancier sound, but nothing aside from the singles ever clicked with me in a big way (even "Burn" + "How Long Will I Love You" are a ways behind GG).

Ah, so the Spice Girls were saved by the power of nostalgia, eh? Nothing wrong with that, though - I'm glad to hear he has fond memories of them <3 I really need to revisit their singles (especially the ones that weren't big hits or even released here in the US), but "Stop" has always really charmed me.

   Granted, I'm not exactly well-versed in all of your faves either, but I think Carly's one of the absolute best things to happen to pop music in the 2010's. She doesn't get a fraction of the attention/success/credit she deserves.

Damn...but I guess most of the world is with you there :x  Thanks for at least giving it a chance! Although she's still managed to serve up at least a couple of songs that could stand beside her all-time-best ("#Beautiful," "Dedicated"), her output in the 2010's has definitely been her spottiest ever (especially when it comes to some of those stand-alone and soundtrack singles).

Ugh, YES! The fickleness (from the media and public alike) is unreal sometimes - especially when it comes to female popstars, it seems. It feels like they go from having these absolutely massive eras to being completely irrelevant (or just the butt of jokes) in the blink of an eye (Leona, Pixie Lott, Alexandra Burke, Garbriella Cilmi, Emeli Sandé, Duffy, etc). Granted, at least Cheryl had a pretty good run (especially if we count all the years with GA), but my heart still hurts to see just how poorly this new single has done. :(

Thanks again, Fan! :D
Haha, yeah that is true <3 Which reminds me of, we still needed to exchange our Messenger or Whatsapp details

Well, actually, I work in HR myself :P Sadly I am specialised in another part of HR, so in my real time job I don't do anything with diversity, but we have a diversity officer who works for HR as well and she is very involved. She basically does things top-down, and our platform is more bottom-up. But we do work together a lot!
And most definitely! You would think everyone would get it, but it is such a battle. Especially with these "jokes" that people think are the most normal thing in the world when they are not.. Grr.. Always gets me on my nerves.

What???? Never Ever is one of my all time favourite songs :( :( It is a stunner and a real classic <3 I do love those two mentioned songs as well though. C'est La Vie is a joy.

Haha, he has done that for sure. We recently saw this Belgian jazz performer, in a very small and cute venue, which was a nice experience. The crowd was slightly different compared to the crowds I see at gigs I usually go to  And we had drinks at one of those jazz evenings in the city with some friends, which was relaxed and fun.

Yeah! Absolutely. She is one-of-a-kind.

Ah, Stop is so cute. Their only single to miss the #1 in the UK though, which still seems so strange. It was released in a very competitive week, but I just wished if one of their singles had to miss, it wouldn't have to be Stop.

Haha, yeah true. I do like her, but would never rate her that high. She is just a bit "meh" for me.

I don't know both of those songs I am afraid  I don't know, I just think I am also not that much into her voice. She is ofcourse a legend and I could most definitely listen to some of her songs and really enjoy it, but she is just not someone I get very excited by.

It is so, so strange. Like you said, there are so many female artists who were big at one point and just completely disappeared and no one was interested in them. Cheryl did very well, especially when you count the GA days as well, but still weird.

Wow, Paul, your #1 is depressing af. Thanks for the sombreness at one in the morning.

Interesting that "Runway" seems to be holding well here. Where do you rank it among the Caution tracks? Also, solid debut for "Tell Me It's Over". For me, it's no "Head Above Water", but "Head..." took a while to grow on me, so maybe "Tell Me..." will do the same.

phoenix98 wrote:It's even Potter-approved  It's been heartwarming to see a decent amount of consensus regarding that song's appeal (at least between you, Jake, and myself, though it's doing well in the Pop section poll too). I can KIND of understand what her team sees in "Only Want You," but I'd MUCH rather have them push this instead. I can't @ you plotting to make it a bitter anti-Valentine's Day-anthem, though...
Just being a tad pragmatic.

phoenix98 wrote:Damn. Well, hopefully it can work its way up from that dead-last position someday. For me, it was an immediate relief to finally hear another instantly-appealing track on this generally patience-requiring/slow-burn album. This story of yours better not be 99% shade... ;)
I make no promises.

phoenix98 wrote:Success! I didn't realize you really hated "Girl Of The Year" at one point (I thought that was just the case for "Little Things"), since you were charting it before I did.
I never hated it, but I'm sure I said something snark about it, like calling it "basic" or some adjacent adjective.

phoenix98 wrote:Ha, yeah, that list does make it look especially brutal. I should clarify that I don't completely hate all of those No. 1's that failed to chart here - some of them just never hooked me quite enough to play them more than one or twice in any given week. If YouTube/video views counted for my chart, "This Is America" absolutely would've appeared.
Commercial success is so weird these days; it hurts a bit to know Childish Gambino got to #1 with "This Is America" and not "Redbone".

Many thanks for giving it a listen! I'd only checked out a couple of their singles before this year ("The Sound" and "Somebody Else"), but they really won me over with the string of five pre-release tracks for A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships. They were so diverse, and all enjoyable (to varying degrees). Now that I've heard that album in full, it definitely makes me want to explore their earlier LPs at some point (probably in 2019, like you were saying).

Basically - plus the excitement of seeing other countdowns begin (especially King Akini's) <3 I'm not planning on doing a full proper countdown here on UKMIX (Photobucket putting up a paywall really dampened my enthusiasm for doing countdowns/tributes, since making the images/banners was a big part of the fun for me), but I've still been tabulating the points just to see where songs land. Glad you're on-board with all three of those - it's especially nice to see you mention Hayley, since her name doesn't seem to pop up too often around here! Her album was a bit hit-or-miss overall, but "Curious" was one of my biggest hits of the year. Hopefully sweet Sadie is still soldiering on. <3

Thanks again, cheap :D and Merry Christmas!

Fabulous! Glad to hear you've really been loving it too.

I'd noticed her "Last Christmas" cover on YouTube when I was checking out that awesome "Analog" video for "Girl Of The Year" (DAMN does she nail that), but I still need to add it to my library. Apparently there's a new Hellberg remix of GOTY too? I liked his recent collabo with Leona Lewis, so hopefully he's done this gem justice. Off to add those right now...

Thanks again, GaGarazzi! :D

Ah, that makes so much sense! No wonder you were inspired to start (and have achieved such success with) workplace endeavors like this!

I feel your rage there :x Especially the infuriating, increasingly-popular trend of just spouting something deliberately ignorant and awful - but as long as you end with "just kidding! it's just a joke!", anyone who takes issue with it is obviously just humorless and hyper-sensitive.

Fan wrote:What???? Never Ever is one of my all time favourite songs :( :( It is a stunner and a real classic <3 I do love those two mentioned songs as well though. C'est La Vie is a joy.
 Forgive me! Were/are you a big All Saints fan in general? Sadly, the US never really latched onto them, and they were big overseas at a time when I wasn't actively exploring global hits much  I vaguely recall Akini stanning for at least one of their more recent offerings...

Aw, you can't just leave it that vague! ;) I'd be open to checking out a proper jazz club at least once, but I'm don't see myself getting hooked on it. I know this is pretty painfully basic of me, but I typically prefer music with lyrics (or at least a recurring/identifiable melody...)

Fan wrote:Ah, Stop is so cute. Their only single to miss the #1 in the UK though, which still seems so strange. It was released in a very competitive week, but I just wished if one of their singles had to miss, it wouldn't have to be Stop.
The injustice! I've certainly heard of Run-DMC and Jason Nevins, but I don't recognize the song that blocked "Stop" at all upon hearing it now :-? Possibly because it never even made the Hot 100.

Fan wrote:Haha, yeah true. I do like her, but would never rate her that high. She is just a bit "meh" for me.
:o The blasphemy!

I choked a little reading that, but I guess I can KIND of understand how her singing style (and vocal acrobatics) could be seen as "over-singing"/too over-the-top for some listeners. I think that's partially what's kept me from ever being truly enthusiastic about Xtina...

Yvw  I owe YOU a big "thanks!" for even giving the song a chance, since I know The 1975 have been missing the mark for you with most (all?) of their 2018 offerings. This one's just so damn...tender...and there's something fittingly wintry about it too.

JSparksFan wrote:Interesting that "Runway" seems to be holding well here. Where do you rank it among the Caution tracks? Also, solid debut for "Tell Me It's Over". For me, it's no "Head Above Water", but "Head..." took a while to grow on me, so maybe "Tell Me..." will do the same.
I'm bummed that you're so underwhelmed by/disinterested in "Runway," but I guess it fits our 2018 trend of enjoying the same albums, but being most attached to different tracks on them (Palo Santo, Golden, Caution, Sweetener kinda). It's easily in my Caution Top 5 (though this exact order certainly fluctuates):

1.) "GTFO"
2.) "The Distance"
3.) "A No No"
4.) "Runway"
5.) "One Mo' Gen"

The soulful/retro-pop sound of "Tell Me It's Over" was a shock, but it really works for me, and props to Avril for experimenting with it!

"Redbone" definitely deserved better, but it was nice to see a music video with serious substance (and frighteningly relevant messages) like TIA become a viral mega-smash for once...

Thanks again, Akini! :D

Merry Christmas, Paul! <3

Time to catch up now :)

phoenix98 wrote:Thanks! Damn, you're so creative - that game reminds me of the awesome Pokémon/Yu-Gi-Oh/Digimon (and others?) fusion comic you described a while back. Thank you - Ha, well, that comic also got created by me and my brother, actually. We did a few things like that. The game however was inspired by the MMORPG 'Ragnarok Online'. Maybe you're even familiar with that one as I think it would be something that you could've played as well back then, it's very Anime inspired. Dancer and Bard :) No, not anymore, but it all stopped once I moved out over eight years ago (woah, time flies by so quickly!). We used to play Pokémon together in the first 1-2 years after I moved out though, but that was it. I wish!
Speaking of siblings... do you have one? I think you may have a sister, right? Or am I completely wrong on that?

Yeah, but in the end it still fits as it's the Filipino culture. I'm sure they could've changed it if they wanted to.

phoenix98 wrote:Ah, that makes perfect sense! I'd always used PCs until I recently started using a Mac at home (a hand-me-down from my bf), but I definitely still need Word/Excel/etc. on it to get anything done. I'm so familiar/comfortable with those programs after all these years, and I know they have everything that I need to get stuff done.
He only convinced you to have a Mac at home recently? I thought he would have done this a while ago since you said he's working for/with (?) Apple! How's the experience so far? The thing is, even if you're still working with Excel/Word etc., it's just not the same on the Mac as it is on Windows. At least it isn't in my case

phoenix98 wrote:Interesting! So Germany, Switzerland, and Austria have actually been some of Nelly's most consistent markets over the years. I thought that TSI had flopped basically everywhere, but those countries seem to be the exceptions! That seems pretty random (especially for her Spanish material to do so well there), but I'm glad there's at least some places on the planet that never stopped appreciating her! ;)

(Admittedly, I never checked out Mi Plan or TSI in full...)
They were, Germany and Switzerland were also a little supportive with "The Ride" as it charted for one week in these two countries

Me neither...

phoenix98 wrote:**Nod** Great example! Usually, even at her "worst," Ari's material is still at least mildly enjoyable for me...but "Hands On Me" is just unlistenable  The ballads on that album kind of blur together too (with the title track being especially forgettable).
Oh, so "Hands On Me" may be your least favorite song of Ariana's discography? An interesting choice! I agree about the ballads/title track though.

phoenix98 wrote:It's hard to say for sure, since my impressions are often influenced by my own cynicism  and I hardly ever listen to the radio anymore. I still can't forget/get over "Gangnam Style" missing out on No. 1 because radio wouldn't/couldn't embrace an entirely non-English song (and YouTube didn't factor into the Hot 100 back then). I definitely wish the US was as willing to "import" acts from other countries as we are "exporting" our acts to smash in other markets around the globe.
"Gangnam Style" and the lack of radio support is a good example there. It seems like BTS are having a similar situation with their songs? They're always huge on iTunes, sometimes even successful on Spotify, but radio doesn't seem to touch them, not even the Nicki remix of "Idol". That's a thing I still don't fully understand: Why is airplay so important in the US/for the Hot 100? I mean, the charts should show which songs are the most popular ones for the people, and radio definitely doesn't show that as just a very few people can basically decide what gets played.

phoenix98 wrote:Ooh...the whole erupting-volcano aesthetic is pretty awesome, and DAMN does Selena look good with that tousled-sex hair!
YASSSS glad you're stanning    8-) 8-) 8-)

phoenix98 wrote:Yep, and it's probably still my favorite album of hers overall (though it's a close call with Delirium). She's gotten a fair amount of recognition in the UK over the years (though it seems like that's fading based on the performance of "Close To Me" so far), but I'd say she's DEFINITELY underrated in the US (and probably elsewhere too).
Ah, that's good to know, so I need to revisit it again as I haven't heard it in ages and it's the only album by Ellie i've never got fully into it. I have to admit I only got into her with the second era but always found her interesting before that too. But "Hanging On" really cast a spell over me back then and so did the whole "Halcyon" once it came out. The thing is, I never thought she would top that one and "Delirium" made a poor impression on me at first, but after all these years the latter still sounds incredible while some of "Halcyon" didn't age well at all.

phoenix98 wrote:I've got a soft spot for BP <3 but most fans seem to think it never should've been a single.

Ooh...interesting pick! I almost always skipped over that one when E•MO•TION first dropped, and although it's grown on me a little over time, it's still toward the bottom of that album for me.
Oh, you do? I forgot about that then. Well, to be honest, even her weakest singles are still quite good. "Boy Problems" is definitely better than "Your Type" though.

Ah, I wasn't sure anymore if "LA Hallucination" was one of the songs you liked or not so I didn't write a thing about that, but somehow i feared it wouldn't be one of your faves - it's probably in my personal Top3 of Carly's discography

phoenix98 wrote:Yeah, Mariah had the somewhat-unfortunate luck of dropping her album right before two other highly-anticipated releases (from Rita and The 1975). Caution's also more subtle/more of a grower, whereas Phoenix is packed with more instant/in-your-face-catchy pop.
Very excited to see who will make the bigger impact in a long run. I knew the albums by Rita and The 1975 were anticipated for you, but I had no idea they would be that strong to push Mariah away after just a week.

phoenix98 wrote:Mixed feelings. The lyric video is AWESOME, but the song itself does get really repetitive. It's not quite as "out-there"/hard-to-swallow as something like "Scream" from Art Angels, but I don't see myself getting SUPER hooked on it. That "what will it take, to make you capitulate?" certainly sticks in your head right away, though!
Hmm... so fingers crossed these mixed feelings will turn into a better one, as "We Appreciate Power" has turned out as a big grower for me and I still can't get enough of it. The part you've mentioned really sticks in your head immediately, it's so simple yet so effective - love it!

Glad to see Grimes still charting with "We Appreciating Power" and even having reached a new peak last week. So it seems like it grew a little bit on you?
"Back To Life" is doing so well here :o Hailee seems to have a very strong discography on your charts by now! The song still didn't really click with me, but I saw her live performance on Fallon (I think) and it looked and sounded good. Maybe I should revisit it again...

Good number one. So far it's not doing as much as "Head Above Water" for me, and that one already wasn't a big hit for me, but I have to say the whole era looks very promising so far and I'm so excited for her new album.

Great debut for "Imagine". The whistles  Have you seen her performance on Jimmy Fallon? It's incredible!

What I missed on the latest weeks:
28 (16) 02 | "Nothing Breaks Like A Heart" - Mark Ronson ft. Miley Cyrus | 16

I know the song didn't do much for you so I'm glad it still made a short visit on your charts. I still cross my fingers this may grow on you as I still think it's very strong and its video is simply brilliant :)

I'm thinking you meant Avril there (though I can't blame you for having Ari on the brain, especially with her hanging out right below Avril on that chart). Yup, only three No. 1's for Avril thus far: "Smile," "Hello Kitty," and now "Tell Me It's Over." I didn't start my chart until late-2009, so her biggest (and best) eras were long over by then. How's the motherf**king princess fared on yours?

cheapthrills wrote:Not sure how I feel about Imagine, but that video is the worst and gives me a headache.
Ha, yeah, "Imagine" has been an interesting case: there's parts of it that I really love (like that super-catchy "click, click, click and post" pre-chorus, and the beautifully intimate "love how my face fits so good in your neck" line), but she made some odd choices in there too (like that needlessly long outro with her simply repeating the title over and over). I hadn't checked out the video until seeing your comment here, but OMG are you right  At first, I thought I must've had the quality set too low, but it still looks like that even at 1080p :o I guess she deserves some ingenuity points for creating a lyric video that's deliberately difficult to read...?

Thanks again, ct! :D

Aw, you two were quite the team! Hearing more about the sweet relationship you had as kids makes me even more glad that you've started growing closer again lately. Maybe the next Pokémon games could help accelerate the mending process even more...? ;)

Zero siblings for me, but you might be thinking of Jake and/or Akini having a sister (I know for sure Akini has at least one...)

Ha, well, when my last laptop died, he quickly cobbled-together a desktop setup for me using older Mac components that he had lying around. I couldn't beat that price  and it all works fine, but I'd still prefer to get another non-Mac laptop at some point. I've spent my entire life (until this past year) using PCs, and nothing about this experience with a Mac lately has wow'ed me enough to stick with them going forward.

At first I'm like "Was 'The Ride' some collaboration she did that I never checked out?" I completely forgot that she put out another full studio album after TSI...

Tansike wrote:Oh, so "Hands On Me" may be your least favorite song of Ariana's discography? An interesting choice! I agree about the ballads/title track though.
It's toward the very bottom, at least as far as her studio albums go  Mainshow's artist Survivor showed me that Ari has some random standalone singles, collaborations, and soundtrack songs that I don't know very well, so I might rank those even lower. If you ever wanted to act out the lyrics together, though... ;)

BTS are another PERFECT example!

The airplay inclusion question is an excellent one, and I'm not sure if I've seen any official statements from Billboard on the subject, but I think it has to do with the fact that a lot of people listen to the radio as their main way of consuming music (in the car, at work - though technology offers more and more alternatives now). These listeners aren't directly picking the songs they hear, but they can always change the channel, so stations are still motivated to play what people actually want to hear. I can understand why labels/industry officials would want to know which songs are doing well on radio, but including it in the Hot 100 is definitely a questionable/controversial choice (especially among chart followers). I think the Hot 100 is one of VERY few "main" national charts in the world that includes airplay in its formula.

Ooh, I had no idea that "Hanging On" was the song that really turned you into an Ellie fan! I definitely find myself revisiting Delirium more often than Halcyon too.

Absolutely! She seems to have such a great ear for catchy, poppy melodies/hooks, so I'm glad that she's willing to dabble in that and not stick exclusively to more edgy/alternative/avant-garde material.

Your cheerleading/enthusiasm for "We Appreciate Power" definitely helped its case too. <3

You absolutely should ;) Are you interested in the Transformers movies at all? Maybe seeing Bumblebee would help "Back To Life" grow on you? Granted, it probably just plays over the end credits or something  Hailee's already collected six Paulboard Top 5's (seven counting MNEK's "Colour") - and yet we still haven't gotten a proper album from her. C'mon, Hailee...

Eh, their names even share three letters (and look super-similar when we shorten it to Ari), so it's more than understandable!

Ha, admittedly, your reaction to Avril "only" having three No. 1's made me think you might be a big fan, but at least you've shown love to some of her all-time-best over the years (well, and "Hello Kitty"...) <3

Well, it's hard to complain about Ari at #1, but would have loved to see Allie X there instead if only so someone else has a #1 Christmas song this week. But at least you charted Christmas songs, and Ari manages three top tens in the same week because of it. :D

Hello Kitty charted for me like one week and then it was gone. Come on, that video is fire.

I've had some Christmas songs at No. 1 on Christmas in the past (Glee Cast's "Merry Christmas Darling," Ari's "December"), but for some reason this year I didn't get the itch to start spamming festive tunes until the last few days before the holiday itself. Glad you're not too bothered by Ari hogging the glory! ;)

 It's hard not to poke some fun at that whole hot mess (both the song + video), but I can't REALLY judge, since I sent it to No. 1 here right after the album dropped  It certainly stands out...

Zero siblings for me, but you might be thinking of Jake and/or Akini having a sister (I know for sure Akini has at least one...)
Thanks. Ah, that could be the case, though he also plays less Pokémon these days. Anyways, speaking about games, have you started to play Super Smash Bros. as well? I’m finally back into the gaming mood and picked this up, so maybe I’ll finally play Let’s Go as well… :)

Ah okay. Somehow I thought I saw you posting a picture with your sister on facebook, but I guess my memory is completely wrong on that one then

phoenix98 wrote:Ha, well, when my last laptop died, he quickly cobbled-together a desktop setup for me using older Mac components that he had lying around. I couldn't beat that price  and it all works fine, but I'd still prefer to get another non-Mac laptop at some point. I've spent my entire life (until this past year) using PCs, and nothing about this experience with a Mac lately has wow'ed me enough to stick with them going forward.
Hehe… I see. I think this is one of these things where people are either ‘Team Mac’ or ‘Team Windows’. I really want to get a non-Mac laptop at some point too though, as there are some stuff which can’t be done on a Mac and vice versa.

phoenix98 wrote:At first I'm like "Was 'The Ride' some collaboration she did that I never checked out?" I completely forgot that she put out another full studio album after TSI...
Oops! Only shows how much her popularity decreased!

phoenix98 wrote:It's toward the very bottom, at least as far as her studio albums go  Mainshow's artist Survivor showed me that Ari has some random standalone singles, collaborations, and soundtrack songs that I don't know very well, so I might rank those even lower. If you ever wanted to act out the lyrics together, though... ;)
Aw. Well, yeah, some of the random songs you’re mentioning are also in the bottom for me, though I rarely count these when I do rankings or stuff. Haha… :)

This makes absolutely sense, radio is similar to streaming these days, though with streaming people can choose by themselves what they want to listen to. But as you say, it’s similar with radio, as people could change the station when they don’t like what gets played. But with radios it’s easier to manipulate things IMO – I’m just throwing in the word payola. Labels or artists with good connections (or money…) could be played more even though they may be flopping with the general public. There are always some songs very high on the airplay charts yet they’re nowhere on streaming and iTunes.
I wonder how people reacted back in the days when they announced radios would be part of the Hot 100 as well. From what I remember it’s already that way for decades…

phoenix98 wrote:Ooh, I had no idea that "Hanging On" was the song that really turned you into an Ellie fan! I definitely find myself revisiting Delirium more often than Halcyon too.
It did! I just fell in love with that atmosphere on that song in combination with her heavenly voice. It sounded so brilliant back then! Since “Close To Me” is actually picking up in some countries now I think we’ll definitely get some more new music by Ellie this year, can’t wait! :D

phoenix98 wrote: :o Damn, so we're on VERY different pages with that one! Still, it keeps things interesting when we enjoy/appreciate the same artists, but are drawn the most to different tracks of theirs.
True. I find this very interesting overall, because for me it’s obvious “LA Hallucination” is THAT song, but for other people it’s just one of many from her. It’s funny how people like the same artists but still have completely different faves.

phoenix98 wrote:Your cheerleading/enthusiasm for "We Appreciate Power" definitely helped its case too.

YASSS so happy to hear that <3

No, I’m not interested in these movies at all, so I’ll definitely won’t see Bumblebee. I’m not sure how an album from her would do… yes, she has successful singles, but she seems to get the hits more based on promo, radio support and them just clicking with the GP, not because it’s Hailee. She also doesn’t seem to care for her music career as other actress-turned-singer did (Ashley Tisdale, Ashlee Simpson, Selena Gomez…).

phoenix98 wrote:So "Imagine" was "just a thought", but she's still promoting it with live performances on talk shows? Her voice is UNREAL, though! :o

Thanks again, Tancel! :D
Haha yes… I guess it really gets more and more difficult to categorize songs as singles (official, promo) or not. It is! I couldn’t believe she actually hit these notes :o

So happy that you checked out Clean Bandit’s “What Is Love?”. Fun fact: I’m currently listening to the album while writing this reply
I think it’s a very good album but they probably already released too many singles, so it doesn’t really feel like a cohesive record anymore. Which is weird, as Rita Ora basically did the same yet “Phoenix” sounds like a cohesive pop album. Speaking of Rita, her song “Nowhere”, the Ellie collaboration “Mama” and the Anne-Marie song “Should’ve Known Better” are my favorite ones from the album tracks, so I’m very glad to see these being so successful on your charts! The singles remain top notch – especially pleased about that high re-entry for “Solo” this week.

Other than that, I love that little comeback for “We Appreciate Power” and also good to see “Back To You” & “Capital Letters” back. Somehow I feel like a certain Year-End Charts may have been the impact on these re-entries?

I’ll catch up with your Year-End Charts in a few hours with a separate reply…

phoenix98 wrote:I guess that can be our Xmas gift to each other ;) Though, now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure if you actually celebrate Christmas...

The injustice! I've certainly heard of Run-DMC and Jason Nevins, but I don't recognize the song that blocked "Stop" at all upon hearing it now :-? Possibly because it never even made the Hot 100.

Thanks again, Fan! :D
Let me start this post with wishing you a very happy new year!! :D

Haha, it could be a belated Christmas gift  I do celebrate Christmas, not massivly, but usually a nice family affair. I spend the holidays in the UK for the first time this year, with my boyfriend and his family! How were your holidays? I hope you have had a lovely time.

Ah, yes. I adore All Saints. They have released soo many good songs. Like I said, Never Ever may be one of my all time favourite songs. But Pure Shores and Black Coffee are absolute classics as well. They are still going strong, their latest record-released last year- had some very good songs.
Wasn't Never Ever a hit over there? I can imagine them a bit of a one-hit wonder in the States though. No Spice Girls status.

Well I have seen GaGa, Kylie, Britney, Christina- you can kind of guess what they audience at those concerts is :P
Yes! That is exactly what I said as well. I liked the concert quite a bit, but I just don't enjoy it as much when they only do instrumental parts. Gets a bit dull for me.

Ah really?? It was absolutely massive over here, so I can see why it stopped Stop. It's a good song, just not as good as Stop mind

Wow, at the Clean Bandit invasion! Good to see Baby at #1. Some Marina loving will always make me smile.

And amazing to see Stop Me From Falling as your #1 of 2018. Fantastic song.
i wanna see you on your knees, wanna see you begging

Yassss Baby <3

Great to see it still charting so high! It's slowly falling on my charts, but it's still amazing and among my top of 2018.
