Thanka again Han. So that means Rush have sold 10.4 million over the past 15 years. Not too shabby. Does that number also include their home video releases? Those sell very well for the band. Rush In Rio is 5x Platinum I believe.

Selling England by The Pound 163K
Private Dancer 689K
Break Every Rule 62K (!!!)
Love Over Gold 163K
Greetings From Asbury Park 432K

Fantastic stuff! Soundscan sales keep surprising me!
Thank you so much Hanboo!

Springsteen catalog sales are really strong.

One question, for both the Stevie Wonder's and Marvin Gaye's albums, are these figures for all editions since 1991. Or is the "Songs In the Key" only for the 2000 Universal remaster? Does "What's Going On" figure includes the deluxe edition?

This week i'm curious about two classic albums from the beginnings of the 70's:

Transformer (Lou Reed)
Who's Next (The Who)

In case you don't have SS sales for them then i would like to know about two more John Mellencamp albums:
Uh-Uhu and The Lonesome Jubille.

Soon i will start asking for Bob Seger sales, you have sales of him?

Keep the amazing work (and the good surprises)!

2005 - 10.37m - 540,000 sold in 2005

Easily the fastest selling on this list. Should climb into the top ten by summer.
Looks like "1" has entered the top 10 now:

"1," released in 2000, collected all of the band's U.S. and U.K. No. 1 singles. The album has sold 10.5 million copies in America. Since its debut, not a week has gone by where the album has sold less than 5,000. The set is the tenth biggest-selling album of the SoundScan era, right behind Celine Dion's "Falling Into You" (10.7 million).

The above figures do not add up to 10.37m. The 2005 figure should be around 483,000.

10,500,000 minus 10,370,000 equals 130,000 or 5,200 per week on average this year. (Number 8 in this week's catalog chart).

Another 2 years to make the 11m mark in US.

I've got nothing on Teddy Pendergrass and no official figure for Seal, although I can give you my own estimate based on scans of his first four albums: 6.8 million.

Billboard.com:

WHAT FOLLOWS "1"?

Keith,

I remember reading a while back that EMI was going to release a new Beatles compilation, a follow up to "1." What has happened? Also, how have their compilations and back catalog

faired since Nielsen SoundScan began to track sales in 1991?

John Boylan
Hertfordshire, England

Hello John,

I thought I had read or heard something about a sequel to "1" as well. But we are either mistaken or it has been put on hold.

We asked the Beatles' publicist for a comment about if there was any truth to the compilation rumors, and here is their statement:

"The next Beatles record will pertain to the current Cirque du Soliel production, 'Love.' Sir George Martin and his son Giles will go back into the studio in London for July and August and prepare the music they have mixed for this show for an album. Apple has no other projects being prepared for immediate release at this time."

So, there you have it.

The Beatles most recent chart entry, "The Capitol Albums Vol. 2," debuted at No. 46 on The Billboard 200 in April. The four-disc set has sold 50,000 in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Collectively, the Beatles' catalog of albums has sold 51.3 million since 1991 according to Nielsen SoundScan. "1" is the biggest seller, followed by "Anthology 1" (3.7 million), "Abbey Road" (3.6 million), "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" (3.5 million) and "The Beatles (White Album)" (3.0 million).
