Thanks, I'm always curious how many more errors are in the chart books.

Singles section looks exactly like in the Complete Book Of The British Charts 2004 edition(CB04). 100% correct. :)
That's great!

Oh, taking runs outside the Top75 I found this:
37. EVEN BETTER THAN THE REAL THING (by U2 / Frank Sinatra with Bono)
Date: 12/02/1994 - Run: *145* (1 wk)

In no way Frank Sinatra participated in recording of this track!
Agreed, I replaced that entry with the 'Stay (Faraway, So Close) / I've Got You Under My Skin' single.

Album section is more difficult.
Here is the list of all dicrepancies found:

(1) SONGS FOR SWINGIN' LOVERS Capitol 1 56-07-28 37
[Charted: '56: 1/11; '57: 5/2; '58: 4/15; '59: 10/1; '60: 8/6; '98: 63/1; '01: 71/1]
--------
CB04: 1958 peak = 3, 1958 peak=4 according to Hanboo

(2) SINATRA'S SINATRA Reprise 7 63-10-05 24
--------
CB04: peak=9, Hanboo says peak =7
Definitely CB04 errors. There's a new source where you can check this: Kingofskiffle's album thread right here on this forum - he's arrived at 1965 since his last update.

(3) FRANK SINATRA'S GREATEST HITS Reprise 8 68-10-19 30
--------
CB04: 38 wks, Hanboo =30 wks
I've checked its run in conjunction with the run of Greatest Hits Vol.2. I believe the CB04 editors mixed up a part of the runs of these 2 albums.

(4) MY WAY Reprise 2 69-06-07 52
From 72-01-08 re-entry, released with new catalogue no.
--------
CB04: 60 weeks. Hanboo = 52 weeks.
'70/peak CB04=6, Hanboo=9.
'71/peak=8, Hanboo peak=9.
'72 peak=29, Hanboo peak=35
Early 1970's territory, probably due to diffences between the RR/MW and RM charts.

(a5) GREATEST HITS VOLUME 2 Reprise 6 70-12-12 53
--------
CB04: 43 weeks. Hanboo =53 weeks.
CB04 '71/peak=7, Hanboo '71 peak =6.
See my remarks above.

(a6) THE BEST OF OL' BLUE EYES Reprise 29 75-06-14 3
--------
CB04: peak =30, Hanboo peak=29.
Probably a tied position I or my source missed.

Total # of weeks: 57-33c ( Top 40: 8)

Cumulative sales info - RIAA cert: 2m
Inspired by Basil's purchase, I've decided to check out this Joel Whitburn guy. The library only had an old edition of his albums book (1955-1992, sadly without catalog chart info). But according to this, Aerosmith's debut album charted 59 weeks. You have it at 57, his mistake or yours?
Mine - the 2 extra entries are at #184 and #182 (unbroken run).

Here's a few more discrepancies:

Hanboo wrote: 2. HIGH N' DRY

Total # of weeks: 123-78c ( Top 40: 3) (UK:#26/8)

According to Joel Re #02 (edition incl. 2 new tracks) was 18 weeks.
Whitburn's correct, the 18th week entry was at #200.

Hanboo wrote: 2. RAINBOW RISING (by Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow)

Rising only charted 17 weeks according to Joel's book.
Joel's correct - last week in the given chart run should be striken.

I believe you've mentioned before that Joel's books aren't flawless, but I thought I'd mention these discrepancies anyway.
Please do, this is the kind of feedback I really appreciate.

Thanks Dane!

Nice to see you've included runs from the 80's midline chart!

Is the 5 weeks at # 37/ 3 weeks at # 29 a mistake, you mentioned the chart was 4-weekly (and initially bi-weekly).

Hanboo, could you post chart runs for these 3 Soundtracks. Should be interesting to see Midline runs too, especially for Grease, since it was last certified in 1984!

Grease
Footloose
Top Gun

And please include Soundscan figures where available.
(I have 856K for Top Gun and 750K for Footloose, but believe that's for remasters only)

Thanks a lot!
