#1 - Look What You Made Me Do

"Look What You Made Me Do" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift from her upcoming sixth studio album, Reputation. The song was released on August 24, 2017. Swift wrote the song with Jack Antonoff. The song contains an interpolation of the 1991 song "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred, therefore Fred Fairbrass, Richard Fairbrass, and Rob Manzoli of the band are credited as songwriters. The song received polarized response from music critics, with division over Swift's stylistic change. The music video was directed by Joseph Kahn, and became the most-watched music video within 24 hours.

So excited for this i really wonder how her team is going to handle this era considering streaming is so damn important now, can she really open with 1 million album sales in this declined market.

I'll wait to see how "good/bad" is the first single before star doing album projections. But at any case, 1M units just based on pure sales sounds delusional for me, the market has dropped a lot in the last 2 years.

Why wait 3 months for the album? She always released at the end of October.

New Taylor Swift single out Thursday!

Taylor Swift Reveals New Album 'Reputation' Coming In Nov., First Single Out Thursday
8/23/2017 by Joe Lynch

It's really happening. After the long wait and numerous snake-related teases, Taylor Swift has confirmed her new album, Reputation, is coming Nov. 10. But fans won't have to wait that long to hear new music from the pop queen – the first single drops Thursday (Aug. 24).

Swift also revealed the album cover art via Instagram on Wednesday (Aug. 23).

Even though it's been nearly three years since Swift's 1989 -- which won the Album of the Year Grammy -- she hasn't been a stranger to the charts. Her 2016 Zayn duet "I Don't Want to Live Forever" from Fifty Shades Darker peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, just one spot shy of becoming her fifth No. 1. But with anticipation building for a new Taylor Swift single since she wiped her social media accounts last Friday (Aug. 18), could this new single become her next No. 1 -- potentially unseating the historic No. 1 run of "Despacito" from Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber? We'll have to wait and see.

Maybe she wants to wait until the Black Friday and Christmas season to capitalize pure sales. I don't see any other reason because she has the fanbase even to do a surprise launch without promo.

Because in the past she needed all those weeks to be one of the best selling albums of the year.

The best selling album in 2017 is 819,000 copies right now.

Reputation will be the best selling album of 2017 after Week 1. Hell, after a few days. LOL

Then why not release two weeks earlier and sell even more?

They'll have everything already planned. November 10th might have just fit the promo schedule better

Apple Music is guaranteed and Spotify is supposed to release new music just for paid subscribers. Maybe Taylor will be the first act to use this new Spotify window, but it doesn't make sense coming back to Spotify and then not releasing her new single/album there.

Hopefully the video drops along with the song or at the very latest on Sunday at the VMA's. She's going to need it if she wants to topple Despacito

I would say the same thing, but then I also thought Red would not debut with 1M... and then I was convinced 1989 would not even come close (I think I said 750k for that one), so I have been very wrong before...

But you ARE right that the market has changed a lot, and in terms of streaming, probably far more so than just between 2012 and 2014. And then there's the fact this has been a 3 year wait, not a 2 year one.

There's no doubt at all that this will be a smash. Just curious to see [i]how/i] big a smash.
Kendrick, Beyoncé, and Radiohead are giving me life right now.

She might be the fist artist to use the 2 week free stream holdout for the album, but I guess she'll release the single to free streaming too as it'll maximize the chance to debut at #1

We're talking about Taylor Swift. She's obviously going to Debut at #1 on Billboard Hot 100. Of course she will.

Maybe they want a longer period for the pre-order so they can at least get close to 1 million first week?

I think so. She will have huge radio support (and a deal), huge streaming and probably huge sales. She's the whole package.
