Isn't it 16x Platinum, that's what the RIAA says.

Have you ever thought of making a website, about worldwide sales or something? :D

You seem to have a wealth of information.

We all know that it's 16x platinum in US, but the certifications (not update from beginning of 1999) were given from label on Billboard.

Well, it's too complicated to make a website, and have to pay for it...

Of course, it's 16x platinum by RIAA and 2x Diamond by CRIA. Keep in mind that this certification is for celebration of successful of album worldwide, so if it's not update it's okay, at least we can read other countries' certifications, right?

Mmm this would have sense in a country where there is an association concerning certifications (RIAA in usa, or BPI in uk)but there's nothing like this in Italy! No database for certifications!

What do you mean ?

Database or not, sales can be higher than certifications in every country.

Of course they can!But in Italy certifications(and not real sales) are only revealed through this kind of press(and not through an association)and are given directly by the record companies(in fact only record companies has them)!
When you read press saying "the album sold more than xxx copies"it is always referred at the copies shipped=certifications, not real sales! The Dido album is 3xPlatinum!

I clearly don't understand what you mean.

A major can claim that their X album has sold 300.000 copies, this don't mean at all that they have apply for it being certified.

I only wanted to say that the numbers given in these press are referred to certifications and not sales!
When these kind of press are revealed it's because the album has been certified!!
What you say has no sense in Italy, because the major has no one to apply for certifications :-?

You are highly wrong. You are speaking as certifications are not real in Italy only because they are no database online, but they exist like everywhere, so like everywhere majors have to apply to get their albums certified, press claims have nothing to do with certifications.

he say that here in italy is difficult have information about certifications, often albums aren't certified but if in a magazine/press/TV (usually the only way to know some data in italy) there is write "the album sell 300k" is because somewhere they read that the album is 3Xplatinum (i know now platinum is 80k).

'Just Whitney' did ship 2 million worldwide and that's all that matters with world sales not so called 'actual sales'.

...
JUST WHITNEY... is accompanied by the most extensive marketing and promotion campaign of Whitney Houston's career. The album won her highest sales debut ever, scanning over 205, 000 units this week and entering the Billboard 200 album chart at #9 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart at #3. Its December 10th in-store date followed a one-hour interview on ABC's "Primetime Live" with Diane Sawyer on December 4th, the highest-rated show of the evening. There was also a live street-date performance broadcast on "Good Morning America" (featuring the current hit single, "One Of Those Days"), from New York's Lincoln Center. JUST WHITNEY..., which shipped gold in France, Italy, Switzerland, and Brazil and has sold over a million units internationally, is the much-anticipated follow-up to her worldwide 10 million-selling album of 1998, My Love Is Your Love.

From MTV Asia: Mariah Carey's concert in Hong Kong has been cancelled. Universal Music Group International sent out the following press release today:

Due to unfulfilled contractual obligations by concert organisers, Mariah Carey has been obliged to cancel her forthcoming concert in Hong Kong, scheduled to take place at The Tamar site on Saturday, October 28.

With legions of fans in Hong Kong and South East Asia, Mariah has always appreciated the love and dedication they have shown over the years. She deeply regrets the disappointment caused to them due to unforseen circumstances beyond her control. For Mariah, this is particularly unfortunate given her recent sold-out, critically acclaimed tours of the United States and Japan.

Mariah's most recent album, The Emancipation Of Mimi, achieved double-platinum status in Hong Kong and platinum sales in Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand. The album also earned the multi-Grammy winning singer/songwriter/producer the distinction of being the best-selling Universal Music artist in China in 2006.

Mariah will soon begin work on a new album, due for release in 2007.

40,000 (2x Platinum) Hong Kong
40,000 (Platinum) Thailand
30,000 (Platinum) Korea
30,000 (Platinum) Philippines - sold over 90k
25,000 (Platinum) Malaysia
20,000 (Platinum) Taiwan - sold over 35k
