I think you have a mistake on Merry Christmas Album.
It wound up last year at 4,653,000. This year, so far, it is at 4,800,000 (rounded). This means sales for 2006 is 147,000.

I see my mistake. When I went back to 2005 4,653,000 wasn't end result. It was as of 12/24/05.
That means it sold less then 147,000, so far, this year.

I forgot, but all the singles listed before 1999 were just 8" singles (not 12" singles) that's different to the CD format like all other countries. Since S, H, ATYNAF, contained more than 2 songs and I won't count them here.

# 2 , 17 weeks , 1,241,160 , 94/11/03 " All I Want For Chrustmas Is You "
# 18 , 6 weeks , 91,640 , 95/09/21 " Fantasy "
# 87 , 2 weeks , 6,980 , 95/11/30 " One Sweet Day "

# 37 , 5 weeks , 24,850 , 99/09/22 " Heartbreaker "
# 78 , 1 week , 2,360 , 00/09/27 " Against All Odds(Take A Look At Me Now) "
# 43 , 1 week , 4,250 , 00/12/23 " All I Want For Christmas Is You 2000 [Japan Only] "
# 52 , 2 weeks , 6,120 , 01/07/18 " Loverboy "
# 26 , 8 weeks , 21,793 , 02/11/13 " Through The Rain "

on the albums chart, there were those...

# 48 , 3 weeks , 16,340 , 91/02/21 " Someday Dance Special[EP] "
# 42 , 5 weeks , 29,000 , 94/01/01 " Hero[EP] "
# 34 , 10 weeks , 68,610 , 94/08/21 " Anytime You Need a Friend [EP] "

but i always tought it was weird that she had just those singles on the chart... i wonder what are the peaks of all of them in the International Charts, i believe some of the might have gone #1 there without entering the Top 100

well, at least she's huge on albums (#1 international artist by far) and AIWFCIY is one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) international song EVER

as someone somewhere asked, my analysis of TEOM's worldwide sales/shipments:

America - 6.5M

_ 6M shipped in the US 'til the beginning of 2006
_ 0.2M in Canada shipped 'til 11/2005
_ 0.15M in Latin America at most (around 100k only in Brasil + Mexico)

let's put 6.5M in America

Africa/Oceania - 0.3M

_ Platinum in South Africa (50k) + other african countries at least 100k
_ 200k in Oceania, she should have got 2x Platinum in Australia (140k) a long time ago

Europe - 1.3M

_ UK 0.6M shipped (01/2006), Gold in Germany in 11/2005 (100k), over 160k of real sales in France (rumored to be 2x Gold = 200k) + Ireland, it's around 1M in only 4 countries
_ Not certified in Switzerland, but judging by it's chart run and comparing it to other albums, it must have sold at least Gold (20k) and near Platinum (40k). Gold in Italy (40k), not very succesful in Spain (20k), 25k in Greece (Platinum) + 25k in Austria, Belgium and other small countries from western Europe wich lead us to 150k. Gold in Holland (40k), near Gold in Denmark (20k), not succeful in Finland/Sweden/Norway (15k at most in those 3 countries). All this put together we'll be at 225k + Russia and eastern Europe, 1.3M shipped in Europe at most

Asia - 1.1M

300k really sold in Japan, probably 350k shipped, same for China wich was on 200k only a few weeks after the (late) release, it was the best-selling album by Universal there of 2005, counting local (who tend to sell more) and international releases.

Now, the smaller markets... Hong Kong 2x P (40k), Philipines 3x P (90k), Korea P (30k), Malaysia P (30k), Taiwan P (30k), Thailand P (40k), Indonesia G (25k ages ago, over 40k in 2005 already) - all of those add up to 300k wich lead us to 1M in Asia 'til now.

But, there's more... P in Singapore (15k), never noticed about India but i assume it's at least Gold (10k). In the middle east, she does nice also... P in Lebanon (10k) and Gold in Israel (20k if i remember correctly), so let's put a minimum of 100k for those countries (and other small with insignificant sales) and we'll get 1.1M in Asia/Middle east

Total Sales/Shipments Worldwide = 9.2M

cause my sig referrs to UNIVERSALs press releases where they claim she topped the 160.000.000 albums sales mark with the emancipation of mimi.. + her singles sales so here i come to that amount of records sold.

BTW according to mariahjournal

Mariah Carey has sold 67,418,426 copies (albums + singles + longform videos) on US Soundscan since 1991. + if you include her record club sales + her debut albums and singles sales prior 1991 + her digital albums and singles sales she comes to over 80.000.000 and probably shipped near 90.000.000 albums singles and longform videos in the US alone. (1991-2006).

Why you jump 10 million when you said "probably" "near"??? For me, 10 million are not small difference...

don't know ask mariahjournal... btw its always the same.. a album sells 7 million and sells on other formats too and then gets certified 10mill.. so if she really sold over 80 million records and videos in the us on all formats why then couldn't the record company may have shipped near 90?
