Basil wrote:Ask Billboard have just given soundscan figures for Barbra Streisand albums released post - 1991.
These have been incorporated into the First Post, Page One.
The total for post-1991 releases is about 11.8m. Barbra's soundscan total since 1991 is about 20m.
Hence around 8.2m is from pre-1991 releases (mostly compilations I would guess). So around 500,000 soundscan sales each year have been "catalogue". This must have been higher in the 1990's because recent catalogue figures are
2005 - 233,000
2006 - 260,000
2007 - 176,000 so far.
Guilty Pleasures sold 429,000 in 2005 and the current figure is 509,000. Therefore it has sold only 80,000 in 2006/7.
The most interesting stat is 454,000 for the Just For the Record box set, making it close to double platinum.
The only post-1991 album they missed was Just For the Record Highlights (1CD).
hi,thanks for these figures, they are very heartening, despite the fact that lately she's been mainly just a "performing" artist and yes, this might be a case of one too many live albums.
For all the hype of Guilty Pleasures,it has turned out to be a major failure and disappointment.
