I've enjoyed reading some of the other personal charts in this forum, so I thought I might take this opportunity to add mine.

While most contributors appear to revise their favourites weekly, my chart is only updated once a month. I have, however, been doing this for the last twenty six and a half years !!

Naturally, there are some rules that I apply in compiling my Top 40 chart and Top 40 breakers - the potential "future hits" - but, as television quizmasters always used to say, "we'll pick those up as we go along". So, here is the most recent chart, with commentary:

In January, "Make It" by Sylver was the Rapid Riser, going up only six places - but this time it is one of seven singles climbing faster than that. They include "Under The Weather" by KT Tunstall, only the fifth artist to move up eleven notches to the top of the chart - the others being Jennifer Rush and Juliane Werding in the 1980's, and Mark'Oh and Ace of Base in the 1990's. As "Suddenly I See" continues to climb, from 11 to 10, KT is also the first artist since Gigi D'Agostino in May 2001 to earn two new top ten hits simultaneously - and her first success, the former Chartbuster "Other Side Of The World", also remains inside the top twenty for an eighth consecutive month.

While Jem sticks at number 2 for a third month in a row, an all-female top three is completed by Tina Cousins, whose version of "Wonderful Life", previously a number 12 hit for TJ Davis, goes up seven places. After failing to make it into the top forty with her previous breaker, "Hymn", Tina is certainly back on form, now achieving her seventh consecutive top three hit, including two collaborations with Sash!. A few places below, a one-place move in the right direction is enough for Gwen Stefani to match her previous best placing as part of No Doubt, the 1997 number 7 hit "Don't Speak". And, while former Chartbusters from Katie Melua and Melanie C are also still climbing, this month's Rapid Riser is Dana Rayne, up from 26 to 13 and looking likely to become her second top ten hit.

There are only two new entries in the top forty this time, as last month's Chartbuster from Leki, "Spread My Wings", flies straight into the top half of the chart at number 17, and Banaroo's second hit "Space Cowboy" lands at number 34 - just one place below their debut entry, "Dubi Dam Dam", which is back up five places at 33. Ian Van Dahl also regains lost ground with "Where Are You Now" - and, although the follow-up "Inspiration" fell a long way short of a top forty placing and disappears from the breakers this month, another new release, "Movin' On", is among seven new potential hits. Madonna is also in with a good chance of doubling her tally of current hits next time with "Sorry", while Faith Evans and The Ordinary Boys could both be in line for chart debuts, along with either or both new dance acts who enter the breakers with re-works of songs originally recorded by Roxette - Discoblaster and DHT featuring Edmee. And, based on "Ecuador" by Sash!, it's another re-working that is now guaranteed to be a new hit in March - "Keep On Movin'" by Starstylers featuring Michy.

Your top 3 is a great female trio! I also like Gwen and Un Monde Parfait which I heard when I was doing my international chart for like 2 weeks... good also to see Katie, Mel C and Jem's biggest hit there ;)

Katie, Natalie and UN are all some good tracks to see lower down your chart as well as Bright Eyes and Kelly - the closing tracks.

From the breakers list I like Studio B, Bananrama, Mylo, Juanes, JESS, Crazy Frog ;), DHT, the classic Dead Or Alive, OB, and a song I wanted to hear for ages - Nicki French. Also the amazing amzing SUNRISE - one of the highlights of 2005 for me! Also liking TATU, Christina, Baccara and Nightwish.
These foolish games are tearing me apart
