Great week for Don't Stop the music (#5), Alicia Keys (LYNSMA at #13...new peak next week?) and also for Linkin Park, Britney (another top 20 hit) and Natasha Bedingfield (for Love Like This and Pocketful of Sunshine) :D

and next week is set to be even worst Jose - HDD predicted the #1 album to sell just 50,00 copies :-?

now my considerations on this week's Hot 100 chart, just to practice my english lol

_ Snoop Dogg gets his 8th Top 10 Hit but only his 5th as the leading artist. It's doing much better than the 1st single from his last album - "That's that" peaked at #20.

_ Rihanna gets her 4th Top 5 Hit. Now "Don't stop the music" is the 2nd most succesful single in the US so far from the "Good girl gone bad" album.

_ Natasha Bedingfield almost gets her 2nd Top 10 Hit (only "Unwritten" went higher, peaking at #5). "Pocketful of sunshine" is her 5th Hot 100 Hit.

_ Britney Spears finally gets her 9th Top 20 Hit. Hopefully "Piece of me" will become her 6th Top 10 Hit, but it won't be easy - she never had 2 Top 10 Hits in a row.

_ Keyshia Cole scores her 6th Top 40 Hit, the 4th as the leading artist. "I Remember" is the 3rd single from her latest album, "Just like you" - "Let it go" went #7 and "Shoulda let you go" failed to reach the Top 40, peaking at #41.

_ Lupe Fiasco gets his first Top 40 Hit. Previously, he only charted as a solo artist on "Kick push" (#78) and as the featuring artist on Kanye West's "Touch the sky" (#42)

_ Maroon 5 is having some difficulties to make "Home" a hit - their 7th single doesn't seem to go much further, making it their only release not to go Top 40. Previous lowest peak was "Sunday morning" at #31, while the other singles all went Top 20.

_ Michael Jackson gather his 47th Hot 100 hit with a new version of "Wanna be startin' something" featuring Akon. The original one, released in 1983 was #5 for 2 weeks and it was sampled recently on Rihanna's latest hit, "Don't stop the music". This is Jacko's first hit since 2003's "One more chance" reached just #83, his 2nd worst peak ever - only 1997's "Stranger in Moscow" did worst, by peaking at #91.

Billboard.com:

'Juno' Unseats Keys From Atop Album Chart

January 30, 2008

by Katie Hasty, N.Y.

The Rhino soundtrack to "Juno" becomes the label's first No. 1 album on The Billboard 200, moving up 2-1 with a 13% increase to 65,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's the first film soundtrack to top the chart since last year's "Dreamgirls" and the first from an Academy Award best picture nominee since "Titanic" reached the summit on Jan. 24, 1998.

Alicia Keys' "As I Am" (J) flip-flops with "Juno" 1-2 with 60,000 (-1%). Natasha Bedingfield earns her best charting and sales week ever as her sophomore Epic album, "Pocketful of Sunshine" enters at No. 3 with 50,000. Her debut, 2005's "Unwritten," started and peaked at No. 26 with 34,000. Sales of the new project were aided by the single "Love Like This" featuring Sean Kingston, which recently moved into the top 20 of the Hot 100.

Mary J. Blige's Matriarch/Geffen album "Growing Pains" falls 3-4 on The Billboard 200 with 45,000, a 12% sales slip. Descending 4-5, Radiohead's "In Rainbows" (TBD/ATO) moves 35,000 (-24%), while Taylor Swift's Big Machine debut holds tight at No. 6 for a second week in its 66th week on the chart, selling 35,000 with a 2% sales increase.

Teenage R&B star Chris Brown's Jive album "Exclusive" bumps up 9-7 with an 8% sales boost to 32,000. Keyshia Cole's "Just Like You" (Confidential/Imani/Geffen) re-enters the top 10 12-8 with 31,000 (+21%), while Garth Brooks' Pearl collection "The Ultimate Hits" also experiences a 21% sales swell to 30,000, climbing 14-9. Miley Cyrus' Disney double-disc "Hannah Montana 2 (Soundtrack)/Meet Miley Cyrus" clings to the No. 10 slot with a 9% sales increase to 30,000.

Roaring in at No. 12, Cat Power's "Jukebox" moved 29,000 units, a career high chart- and sales- wise. The Matador set follows 2006's "The Greatest," which bowed at No. 34 with 23,000.

Other debuts this week include the Disney compilation "Radio Disney: Jams 10" at No. 18 with 21,000, country newcomer Chuck Wicks' "Starting Now" (RCA) at No. 24 with 20,000, Southern rockers Drive-By Truckers' "Brighter Than Creation's Dark" (New West) at No. 36 with 16,000, Brushfire/Universal artist Matt Costa's "Unfamiliar Faces" at No. 59 with 11,000 and singer/songwriter and "One Tree Hill" star Kate Voegele's re-release of "Don't Look Away" (MySpace Records) at No. 63 with 10,000.

Sales this week are up 4.7% from last week at 7.3 million units. At 30.6 million units, this year's sales total is down 10.3% from the same sum last year.

Here are Idol numbers from USA Today:

Most Idols up as overall sales rebound slightly
Sorry for the lateness of this report -- Idol season schedule throws any post I might put up on Tuesday or Wednesday back considerably. Not that I'm begging for sympathy (or deserve any).

Anyway, overall album sales bounced back a little from an all-time low last week, improving by 5%. Daughtry managed to exceed that margin by a little, selling 6.4% more copies than last week (a rounded 21,000 compared to a likewise rounded 19,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan). The album moves from No. 20 to No. 19 and has now sold 3.71 million copies.

Carrie's Carnival Ride is up 5.3% to 20,000, moving 24-22 on the chart and reaching 1.79 million total.

Jordin clings to the top 50, dropping 48-49 but selling a few more copies than last week (0.2% more), in the mid-12,000s. Her total is 461,000; she should hit half a million in four weeks at this rate.

Carrie's Some Hearts drops 57-58 but sells 6% more, up to 11,000, for a total of 6.23 million.

The only Idol on the chart without cheering tidings (except that he's still on the chart, unlike so many of his compatriots) is Blake, who falls 118-161 thanks to a 27% drop to 4,000 copies. His total is now 255,000, and with airplay for his single having pretty much vanished, the prognosis can't be overly optimistic.

Off-chart Idols follow.

Breakaway's no longer eligible for the current album chart, but if it were, it would have made it this week with 3,700 units sold, down from 3,900 last week, for a total of 5.94 million. Kelly's My December sold 2,000, down from 2,200, for a total of 746,000.

Kellie also nearly made the chart, missing by 300 copies or so. She sold 2,900, up nicely from 2,300, and her total is now 709,000.

Elliott sold 1,600, down from 1,800, for a total of 489,000.

Bucky sold 1,200, same as last week, and stands at 321,000.

Fantasia sold 700, down from 800, total 504,000.

Mandisa stayed at 700 and has sold 69,000 to date.

Bo sold 500, off from 600, for a total of 38,000.

Katharine remained at 300; total 366,000.

Clay stayed at 200, and bumped up to a rounded 523,000.

Ruben stayed at 100; total 236,000.

Constantine stayed at 100; total 24,000.

Taylor stayed at 100; total 700,000.

Kimberley stayed at 100; total 18,000.

Paris stayed at 100; total 21,000

YAY! Bedingfield Top 3, Aly & AJ and Bedingfield debuts! (Although I was expecting at least top 50 for both.)

But, Aly & AJ AND Jonas Brothers both debut with a new single on same day! (bitter rivals for me.) Who will stay on longer? I hope Aly & AJ, but it'll probably end up being the Jonas Brothers because Disney Channel promotes them about as much as put out Hannah Montana and High School Musical merchandise.
