Hey, does anyone know how BILLBOARD comes up with their year end charts?

Like what methodolgy do they use for the Top Artist/TopFemale/TopMale.

50% Hot 100 + 50% BB200 or is it points or something else?

Ex. How was Rihanna the #1 Female in 2006, when she only sold 1M albums compared to Mary J Blige who sold over 2.7M albums.

Points (Bill), sales (soundscan), audience (BDS), so Billboard wouldn't take place of Soundscan's task, otherwise what's the point of doing so.

I know the Hot 100 method =

Airplay (in millions) / 10.000
+
Sales (in thousands) / 10

But the points total for singles would be insignificant when added with album sales.

I don't see how RIhanna came ahead of Mary J Blige.

I think the same (points) were used for albums too.

Do you know by what they divide the album sales by?

by the way, this incredibly catchy, danceable track is holding the #1 spot on the Hot Digital chart since 9 weeks now, tying Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl" and Kanye West's "Gold Digger".
new record next week probably...

let's be realistic. Rihanna had a massive 2007 with Umbrella and all that. Just Fine was Mary's only hit last year and that was still climbing at the end of the Billboard chart year. Mary is much more established and people trust her name on an album, but 2007 was the year of Rihanna, you couldn't avoid Umbrella. She was a hit factory last year with five consecutive top 15 hits.

But look at it this way, Mary's still massive 16 years into her career, does anyone seriously predict Rihanna to be in 2021 where Mary is today? I doubt it

She could. you don't know. It's not like you can see into the future. She could release 10 more albums and they all could do 1,000 times better than Good Girl Gone Bad. Now look at this-----

Ever since Mary released Be Without You, they all have failed here in the US. Even 'One' with U2. Now, I like some of them, but they just haven't gotten big. And Be Without you was 2005/2006 single. So, she hasn't had a US hit since April 2006. Now, her newest single still has a chance, but will it?

All of Rihanna's singles have gone top 20 in the US (excluding If It's Lovin' That You Want). So, she has a better chance of making it big this year.

I'm not saying I dislike or like any of the two better, but these facts are pointing out that Rihanna has better chane of being the bigger R&B/Hip-hop artist of 2008. (Don't Stop the Music is already top 10.)

Hi guys,

I have a question, shouldn't Pink's I'm Not Dead have been moved to the Catalog chart this week as it's now on it's 80th week on the chart and is below 100?

Thanks,
Ryan

He was actually talking about 16 years later, not this year.
