Hot 100 needs an update on it's methodology. These days songs are selling so much compared to previous years that the airplay factor should be less important and sales, internet factor more important

What annoys me is that if 4 minutes is the best selling song this week it means it's what people LIKE...and itn't that what it's all about?
So because radios don't play the song, its not #1? lol...i hate this chart

ofcourse radio has a huge part to do with it and im standing by it, if it was so much digital the chart would be so screwed!!! airplay is big and radio is huge and it should have a huge part, 4 minutes isn't the biggest song in the country... yet!!! and besides i see touch my body on tv more, hear it more on radio ect.

I say this as I never hear radio, not even in the car... I really doubt teenagers will be listening to radio, they will probably watch Mtv or youtube...

The only good songs in the Top 100 in the US are the Radiohead and REM ones. That's how terrible the US's taste is.

Yes, the power of Oprah is amazing but you can not use the word "manipulate" : her audience follows always her choices, it's all.

10-NEW Van Morrison (37,000): Isn't that odd that after 40-something albums, Van finally hits the top 10. Trouble is, about 30 of those are probably more deserving (including his most adventurous and arguably best solo album, Astral Weeks, which didn't even hit the top 200). Previous high through 2000: No. 15 for 1972's Saint Dominic's Preview.

Van Morrison's first top 10 album ever! :o

"Astral Weeks" is considered one of the best albums in the history of music and didn't even hit the charts.

How bizarre. :-?

I think #11 is pretty reasonable. How many live Stones albums does one really need? This is the ninth official one that I can think of (they've had ones in 66, 70, 77, 82, 91, 95, 98 and 04 as well), they abuse live albums the way some artists abuse Greatest Hits package. I know that the hardcore fans will snatch it up, but for the casual fan, they probably would just stick to Get Your Ya-Ya's Out to hear the band at it's peak, or maybe Flashpoint since it covers a wider scope of material.
I agree. I have all of their albums, but this time I won't buy the new one.

Probably only Dave Matthews has more live recordings! LOL :D
don't forget Pearl Jam, who released every single show off a tour a few years back separately. I would hate to be a "must have all" PJ type of diehard
don't forget Deep Purple...

Easter Sunday was April 8th last year. So yes, that would suggest why sales were so much higher last year!

Thanks ABR, Fresh, Lostprophet, Candyman and Tony from the Pulse forum for all this week's US charts. Nice to see REM near the top of the album chart.
