UK Singles Sales

Take Me Out - 64,000
Matinee - 25,000
Do You Want To - 60,100

I doubt that TMO and DYWT sold over 500,000 each in the US. More likely they were certified as Gold digital tracks back in the days when Gold = 100,000 sales.

yes, that's their case, but as after the certification levels changed and everything has gone Gold, we can't tell how much they really sold, maybe they were 2x Platinum before the change and now they're just Gold, meaning they really sold near 500k

and even if they haven't, i guess they might be near, since they're the kind of song that keep selling well year after year =)

They were just Gold for each song before the change, so back in 2007 or whenever the change happened both had sold between 100,000 and 199,999 unless they were under certified. Songs certified Gold under the old levels just keep their certification despite the lower sales needed when they were awarded.

They will have picked up some sales for both songs since then but I doubt either song is anywhere near to 500,000 copies.

are you sure they were only Gold by the time the change came? if yes, i'll change it.

btw, do you know how i might discover wich songs were only Gold and wich were Platinum, 2x Platinum, 3x Platinum or 4x Platinum? cuz they all became Gold instantly on the change and i think it's unfair to say all of them sold 500k while some might have sold 100k and others 800k

I looked up the certifications at the RIAA website - there's only a Gold certification showing for each song, and with certification dates in 2004 (for TMO) and 2006 (for DYWT).

How many copies have sold Tonight in the UK this week? How many Bruce Springsteen to get the number 1 instead of FF?

And were first week sales of second album as bad as these ones?

I changed the numbers on the first post cuz i couldn't find SScan figures for the songs in my HDS database with sales since 2005, but on the RIAA database, they might had certified both songs Platinum, 2x Platinum, 3x Platinum or 4x Platinum until May 2006 and still, they would be just Gold now, that's why i said it's hard to know if they really sold just 100k or at least, 200k, 400k, 600k...

Europe

The Franz Ferdinand album is also behind Springsteen at No. 2 in the United Kingdom with sales of 27,000, modest by comparison to the 101,000 opening tally for its predecessor "You Could Have It So Much Better" in 2005. "Tonight" is new at No. 2 in Germany, No. 3 in Switzerland, No. 4 in Holland, No. 5 in Austria and No. 8 in Italy.
