One of the best R&B albums ever.
Been listening to this a lot this week.

What are you thoughts on it?

Very long album (as usual for Janet), but there's some quality songs on there. Special, Free Xone, Tonights The Night and of course all the singles!

Contains some of my favourite Janet moment, especially Together Again, as well as Every Time. Definitely her peak :(

Free Xone is probably her most experimental track ever IMO.

Together Again is delish though!

I never did buy the album, though I considered it at the time. I did absolutely adore two of the singles though - "Together Again" and "Every Time" 8-)

It used to be my favorite Janet album and I had that connection with it when I first heard it, but a few of the tracks are just either a bit weak ("Empty", "Special") or have dated a bit poorly ("Got 'Til It's Gone")..but still all in all it's a good album.

LOL, much more mildly put, I think it's a sexy song too :P I don't really think about playing music in the bedroom but this song I would consider.

Such a good album! Not her best but 'Every Time' is one of my all time favourite songs of hers, so underrated!

Every time I've seen that album cover, I thought it was Terence Trent D'Arby.

Not joking.
This post is highly unlikely to be serious. Please treat it accordingly. Unless it's music-related, in which case I'm damn well right.

I know there's a lot of Janet fans on UKMix, I'm not that big on Janet, but 'Together Again' is definitely her best song and one of my fav songs from the 90s ;)

I'm one of the big fans of Janet here ! And I confirm this album is one of the best of her career. But personally, my favorite stays "All For You".

I love this album so much. One of the best R&B albums ever IMO. Songs like "You", "Every Time", "Go Deep", "What About" and "Velvet Rope" still sound fresh today.

Another fantastic album from Janet. Although this one contains some filler. It has a good mix of uptempo's and ballads. And I really like the interludes on the album! Brilliant artist!

I love Velvet Rope! The song itself is a monster tune IMO. Very alternative, dark and haunting. Definitely the most brilliant song on that record.

I love how despite this album having so many tracks on it, most of them have been mentioned, when else can you say that about a Janet album? There is just no filler on this album!

AND it doesn't samey at all! Compare it with "janet." or "All For You" (two albums with more or less the same length) and you can't say the same thing about those records.

Velvet Rope has a consistency that no other Janet record has.

Another case where, singles-wise, Janet had more consistency earlier, but albums-wise, this one was very coherent and showed her creativity at its best. :D
