"Push the Feeling On" lyrics

Postby Grand Dizzy » Thu Jun 05, 2003 1:30 am

This has bugged me for 8 years, now.

I'm talking about "Push The Feeling On" by Nightcrawlers feat. John Reid, from 1995

I realise they were chopped up vocals... but what was the guy originally saying? Anyone have any idea?

It sounds like:

ERR (in) their lives again.
ERR (in) their li... ...d've pull us.

Flippin' eck, Dizzy! - that's taking me back a bit.

Just had a rummage through, but I can't find my original single to check for you. At the time, I recall thinking they sang 'their lives again', but it was rumoured that it was infact some kind of profanity deliberately muffled up.

Regards,

I remember that video! :) I only saw it once but how could you forget that?

Didn't the guy look like a woman? He should marry Sonique. ;) ;)

I think the lyrics to that are intended to be unintelligible...I don't think it was edited because of any profanities! It was just a trick, or a gimmick, to cut the vocals that way so it made no sense and was hard to decipher. And the tactic worked...people are still talking about it more than 10 years later....

Rather than "err", I always thought it was "burn"

You're not looking to do this one at Karaoke, are ya?

How true!

Ha - also liked the comment about karaoke - now that would solve the mystery once & for all wouldn't it! ;-)

^^

I still think it's something like

Through
Their lives again
Their lives will pull us
through

just garbled up for effect

I think I remember the singer (Jason Reid?) being asked about it in an interview back then and although I can't remember what he replied exactly, I'm sure he mentioned the word "through" in the lyrics.

There's also the part with the female vocals - what is the guy singing in the back?? (@ 2'36'' on the radio edit)

Your face to mine
Their lives - it's up to you

:-?

I'd love to know the answer to this too

I think I've always said the same as George myself but it's definitely had some effect placed on it. Even lyrics websites are no help, most of them just have "Push The Feeling On 2003" lyrics which I haven't heard but has completely different words.

It's freaky, we had the exact same conversation at work last week. I too remember an interview with John Reid where he did explain the lyrics, and if you watch the video you can see he is singing something.

Great Song.

i remember seeing an interview back in the day, and they wrote a complete love song, then when playing about with it once chopped parts of the lyrics out and just them parts ended up being the full track you're all talking about.

i believe the original full love song, was on the nightcrawlers album too as a different track.

i'll be buggered if i can remember the words to the full love song though, let alone remembering which parts were cut out lol!

but that's definately right unless nightcrawler guy was chattin s**t in that interview!

btw - what a CHOON!! s'all about the xtended remix on the 95 version 8-)

The lyrics don't make sense on their own, they're cut up from the 1992 release.
Original Lyrics -
"And those who suffer pain, will begin to live their Lives again.
And this world will be a place to learn, but its up to you, to pull us through."

Re-sampled Lyrics -
"Their Lives again / Their Li / to pull us through" (Main Loop Throughout Song)
"Place to learn / Their Liv / its up to you" (Secondary Loop)

^ I always thought I could hear the expression "nightcrawlers work" in the chorus... but then I thought it was just nonsense like Last Ketchup - Asereje. Thanks for the explanation.

Hang on...comments posted on YouTube are not exactly the most trustworthy source. I have doubts as to the accuracy of that explanation.

PARTICULARLY as the "Urn" (whether it's learn, or burn as I always though, appears in the main loop, not the secondary one.)

This always bugged me too. Back then no one knew either. I remember the guy had long blonde curtains :-?

Its one of those tunes you get sick of the more you hear it, and time doesnt heal that sickness for me.

Didnt it go number 1 for 3 weeks or somthing??

Polyhex shows it got to Number 3 - not Number 1 - though it did stay in the Top 10 for 4 weeks
