Released: 8th October 2001.
The return of Michael Jackson is heralded by the usual fanfare that greets him when he releases new material - including the obligatory over-indulgent and expensive video. Co-producer Rodney Jerkins has ensured that the song has a stronger R&B edge than much of Michael's previous work, but without sacrificing his distinctive sound. However, it lacks the impact his brand new releases normally entail, and unfortunately borders on average.
The comeback single finally gets released, but unfortunately it may be a little late, as people may have got a little tired of the song by now. The single is nothing revolutionary and seems to be more mainstream than I was expecting. Put it this way - I can't see Michael Jackson lasting much longer with material similar to this. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what else the album can provide.
