Res (pronounced Reese) is one of those artists who comes along every so often, seemingly leaping genres and the need to be categorised. Her debut album smoothly mixes styles as diverse as rock, reggae and drum & bass to produce something that little bit different. Therefore it's difficult to predict how successful this single will be, let alone place its style. String heavy and with interesting beats, above everything Res remains focussed on the lyrics and vocals which really rank her as an up and coming star. Currently an acquired taste, but one thing we can be sure of is that this is good music!

Sadly, this stunning, overly original and outstanding debut effort from Philadelphia-born and raised Res will probably be lucky to make the Top 30. With its techno/R&B/rock influenced sound, it would have been huge, had it been recorded by an established artist. However, it is too brave for a debut, and has not had enough publicity to make it. Given the right backing, Res will have a bright future ahead of her.
