The second single from Mika's sophomore album 'The Boy Who Knew Too Much', "Rain" is, in Mika's own words, "an unapologetic '80s pop record", and it most certainly sounds like a modern adaptation of the brilliant pop concoctions from that era, particularly that of legendary Swedish quartet ABBA.
"Rain" expounds on Mika's uncanny ability to transform melancholic lyrics into upbeat, uplifting, feel-good anthems bursting with unbridled energy and optimism, but it does so to a much greater degree than Mika's ever managed to achieve before. Providing an alternative to the love-sick, dreary ballads people struck with the blues normally flock to, "Rain" offers a fresh approach to placating depressed-ridden ears and with its synthesizer-heavy instrumental, it is as catchy and irresistible as it is unforgettable. A truly first-class song, this just may be Mika's best single yet.
