Mark Ronson's new single "Uptown Funk", the lead single from Ronson's upcoming 'Uptown Special' album, features guest vocals by one of the hottest male singers in the business, Bruno Mars. The song can be described as an "80s funk/R&B classic", heavily influenced by funk artists such as Earth, Wind & Fire and the Gap Band. On the track, Mars attempts sing-rapping and is helped along by a guitar riff sounding a lot like a Nile Rodgers record, and a bass line that wouldn't sound out of place on a Prince album. The instrumental is also comprised of a dabbling heavy horn section.
This genre-melding track has what it takes to rocket to #1 worldwide, which it has already done in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The only question now is which country is next to be added to the song's chart-topping roster.
