Avril Lavigne - Nobody's HomeIt's sad that 2004 hasn't been anywhere near as kind to Avril as 2002 was. Musically, her second album "Under My Skin" was a step up from the debut, but it sold a lot less... and her singles this time around have been a lot less chart apparent. If one song can turn all that around, it's "Nobody's Home", the highlight of her latest album. A simple but extremely effective effort from the once precocious teen, its mature sound is deserving of a decent Top 10 placing. Whether or not it'll get there, however, is a different story.

Arguably the best track on Avril's second album, "Nobody's Home" provides listeners with another brilliant - albeit depressing - rock tune. Yes, the trend of releasing highly depressing singles is continuing with this, but the sensitivity of the lyrics, the voice, and the emotive melodies are combined enough to make this a storming single. Even so, a distinct lack of any promotion outside the music channels gives this a fast-pass ticket to anywhere other than the higher regions of the chart.
