Released: 3rd January 2005.
The fifth release from their million selling eponymous album is an obvious single that sums up what the Scissor Sisters do best. The catchy disco beat drags you in instantly, and the vocals work fantastically. It's just a shame that it sounds a little too similar to "Comfortably Numb".
After the sweet balladry of "Mary", the New York cabaret troupe get back to their club roots with the pure sex romp of "Filthy/Gorgeous". Perhaps a deliberate move away from the pop commercialism of singles like "Comfortably Numb" and "Laura", the video is definitely not one for the kids, while the song is a raucous falsetto mix between the Bee Gees and the techno scene of the mid-90s. While that's all well and good, couldn't we have had the delicious Human League-esque "Lovers In The Backseat" as the final single from the blockbuster debut album?
