Released: 21st February 2005.
Girls Aloud continue their run of innovative singles with the release of "Wake Me Up", a stunning pop number from their acclaimed second album "What Will The Neighbours Say?". Their most aggressive tune to date, its heavy beats, storming guitar riffs and an extremely catchy chorus make this an irresistible song. The lyrics are, as usual, a strong point here, whether Cheryl gets all sultry or Nadine displays her powerful vocals. Teaming up with Brian Higgins and Xenomania, Girls Aloud confirm on this top class, heavily 80s-influenced single, their status as the UK's biggest and best female group.
Girls Aloud release one of their new album's weakest tracks this week. While its rocky edge and appealing dance beats will keep you hooked, the lyrics are a little weak, except for the chorus. As for the video, let's just say the old bike thing has been done a million times before. One would assume they'd release another "The Show" type track, yet they haven't. I hope that "Real Life" is the next single to compensate for the weaknesses in this song, but overall it is a reasonable track.
