Released: 21st March 2005.
"Shiver" is the first single off Natalie Imbruglia's forthcoming new album "Counting Down The Days". It's a very good pop song and a definite hit, no question, but when I first heard it I thought, "Hmmm, 2003 rehashed" (i.e. a mash up of "All The Things She Said" by t.A.T.u. and "Cry" by Kym Marsh). But hey, who cares when the song is this good. Great video too, shot in the Ukraine. I await the new album with excitement.
Natalie Imbruglia has done some great songs in her career to date, and while this looks set to be one of her biggest yet, it's far from her best. So, what's gone wrong with this normally top notch star? To be honest, the verses just aren't all that memorable, because all that's left in your head after listening to it is the chorus, and an endless chant of "Now I shiver", which is seemingly repeated on the same four notes over and over again. A real disappointment.
