Christina Aguilera - My Kind Of ChristmasChristina has been a busy young woman lately. She has recorded an entire album in Spanish, entitled "Mi Reflejo" (meaning My Reflection), shot new footage for the Spanish video clip for "Genie In A Bottle" and been over to South America to promote the Latin CD. She also won a Latin Grammy for the album, recorded a Christmas album and sued her former management.

However, none of this hype shows in her latest release, "My Kind Of Christmas", which is an absolutely stunning Christmas album with impeccable arrangement and production. Christina's voice has grown to a complete new level since the days of her self-titled debut release. This record not only includes traditional Christmas carols, but new funky R&B songs, some even co-written by Christina herself.

Strangely enough, however, it is much more R&B influenced than her debut which may seem slightly odd for a Christmas album. But Aguilera pulls it off brilliantly, and really shines through on the new tracks written especially for her.

Showing her new R&B Christmas style is a song with a huge amount of attitude, the opening track "Christmas Time", a definite stand out. Another funky, harder-edged track with similar production can be found in "This Year", which, for me, does lack that special something, but does get credit for being one of the songs Christina co-wrote.

The very popular "Christmas Song" is also included, with the traditional piano enhanced and a fantastic Holiday Remix featured at the closing of the album. Other classics include, "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", which is one of my favourites, a beautiful piece with incredible vocals. "Oh Holy Night" makes an appearance, too, but isn't as haunting or as special as several of the other tracks presented here.

One surprise song, "Merry Christmas Baby," has Christina singing a duet with Dr. John to a very blues style song, which, in my opinion, is probably the most bland track on the album. But it is still worth listening to just to see how Miss A can conquer anything!

Artistically, this is an amazing album, an excellent showcase of Christina's talents that will get you in a real Christmas mood!
