Bright Eyes is the moniker for the ever changing line up of musicians commanded by singer/songwriter Conor Oberst and longstanding producer Mike Mogis. This double A-Side with "Easy/Lucky/Free" shows just how much they have developed musically, being a far cry from the scratchy, acoustic, home made sounding recordings of early Bright Eyes. The usual manically strummed guitars, hammered pianos and pedal steel may have been supplanted by keyboards, bleepy basslines and synthesised strings, but the trademark emotion and incisive lyrics still shine through. In the year that saw Bright Eyes headline the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury, this latest release demonstrates how organically Bright Eyes have developed.
