Pussycat Dolls feat. Busta Rhymes
Released: 5th September 2005.
"Don't cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?". These girls are definitely not humble, and may well be just another one-hit-wonder girl band. But while they're here, take a look at this song. It's far from being an R&B classic - it's just a regular groovy track, although one that happens to work very well. The collaboration with Busta Rhymes brightens it a little more, and it has a good chance of being big in the UK, as it has all the characteristics of a summer hit.
Featuring arguably some of the finest women to appear on MTV, the female collective of singers and dancers known as the Pussycat Dolls have had mammoth success in the US with this here ditty. And yet despite the novelty of this very danceable and hummable song - the essential soundtrack to a girls' night out - it's actually very musically bereft. The obligatory thumping beat is present, as are breathy, raunchy vocals (though I'd hardly call her a singer), and even a clichéd rap intro provided by Busta Rhymes. Yeah, it's fun now and it'll be a major hit, but ten years from now you'll be kicking yourself for succumbing to this very plastic song.
